Here are a couple of photos to document changes in the lab and student office. One is where the office will be once complete, the other is a 120 foot roll of Red LED lights. The new red light district in NM!

Congratulations to Dr. Maksim Livsh*ts, who successfully defended his dissertation on Tuesday, February 22, 2017. Well done!

We are making progress in re-establishing the laser lab. See the three photos below for the new table. We are building a canopy over the table now. The equipment will be installed in the coming weeks. We hope to be up and running by the end of June.

I had a great time at the Inter-American Photochemical Society Meeting in Santiago, Chile. I spoke about our newest results involving photo diffraction. It was a wonderfully organized meeting and I highly recommend a trip to Chile, if you ever get the chance.

We are busy setting up the new lab, but we still have much to do. I expect to give you more frequent updates soon over the next couple of weeks and months. Another long delay between posts. We are slowly moving to UNM. Max, Albert and Gilbert and his family have now arrived, all within the last week or so. We are preparing for the Photochemistry Gordon Research Conference. We hope to see you there!

Wow! It has been a long time since I posted something here! We have been busy packing and moving and then unpacking. The lab is still scheduled to move in mid-July, but the family and I moved on May 29. We are now here in Albuquerque and are settling in. I wanted to show you two pictures that show some of the changes to the lab. They are of the nanosecond pump-probe spectrometer not on a table but in a box! Please know that if any of you are ever in this area of the country, you are welcome to visit. We would be happy to have you, and we have plenty of room.

Congratulations to Lei Wang! He defended his dissertation today and did a wonderful job. He performed some really detailed pump-probe anisotropy measurements and revealed some very important excitation wavelength dependent photochemistry. Congratulations again to Lei!

Last week I presented our work at Duke and NC State. My hosts were Mike Therien and Dave Schultz, respectively. I had a great time and our work was very well received.

We had a wonderful visit with Len MacGillivray last week. He gave a terrific lecture and he helped us to design new experiments for photomechanical materials. It was a great lecture!
