Our Never Ending Success Story
This page started out as a support group for me a teacher/coach who was a victim of slander. This page is now turning into my success story.
I am a Physical/Health teacher & Coach. This page was created because Albany City School District decided to let a bully win. My father & I were attacked at a softball game by two parents who didn't like one of the school districts unwritten policy. Once the parents realized they couldn't harm the district they came after me. Instead of dealing with the parent the school district decided to wipe t

How can you start, participate and continue the conversation of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion? You listen. You close your mouth and you listen to others. This will allow you to build empathy and understanding.

Hi everybody!
I know it’s been awhile but I’ve been building a family and starting a new career!
I do not find it hard to want equality for all. I don’t see how that is a negative thing. I will share a quick story with you.
I was once pulled over with my sister and a friend down by the Albany DMV. Why? The cop said we were too pretty to be down in that area. He thought we were buying drugs. If anyone knows me you know I was kind of opinionated when I was a teen 😏 Three more cop cars pulled up with a dog to search the car. The cop explained our tints were too dark to the other cops but no mention of us being too pretty. Now I immediately started cursing out the cop while calling my mom on my cell phone. While on the phone with my mother I started pointing out to the cops all the other cars whose tints were dark. Mind you the car we were driving had a “do it yourself” tint job which basically is a purple see-through sticky film. How did they treat us? Like we were cute little girls throwing a tantrum. Laughing at how mad I was. At one point a cop told me to get off the phone & I told him to f off. He just laughed. As soon as my parents were at the traffic light I pointed out to the cops that my parents were right at the light. And wouldn’t you know all 6 cops along with the dog got in their cars and pulled away before my parents could pull up.
I once thought I knew how it felt to be profiled because of that situation. But that is completely wrong. This is an example of white privilege.
Just because you can’t understand the impact of being treated differently because of your race, religion, social class, s*x, gender identity or s*xual preferences doesn’t mean you can’t feel empathy for others.

"In an old Jewish ritual, the high priest chose one goat each year-the scapegoat-to represent the sins of a whole nation. After a confession ceremony, the priest let the goat escape to carry the sins away.
Whenever something goes wrong around us, it's part of human nature to look for someone to blame-to find the scapegoat. Sometimes we point at others to keep from blaming ourselves. Usually, though, we just choose an easy target-someone we don't like much anyway, or someone it's easy it's easy to imagine doing wrong. If the wrong is big enough, we might look for a scapegoat "big enough" to properly pay for it." -AHOIIA
"Our Constitution has established safeguards to ensure "majority" rule doesn't take away the rights of minorities. The 14th Amendment (1868) guarantees to all Americans "the equal protection of the laws." This means that even though the majority shapes our laws by electing the lawmakers, the government must apply those laws to all people equally.
At various times in our history, lack of minority representation in government has allowed the majority to abuse minority rights."

"By 1877, corrupt politicians and racist organizations like the Klu Klux Klan had begun to intimidate Blacks into surrendering their hard-won equality. Lynch mobs carried out a bloody campaign of vigilante justice. Whites regained their form of domination of local and state governments. They began passing laws that openly favored Whites and redefined blacks as second-class citizens. The segregation acquired the name "Jim Crow"." - A History of Intolerance in America
