The College of Saint Rose chapter of the National Association of Music Education. Our club currently has approximately 40 student members.
At the Saint Rose Chapter of NAfME, we strive to educate future music educators through workshops, master classes, and other learning activities. In addition, we also work to build a strong and passionate community within the Music Education program at Saint Rose and to strengthen networking between our club members and current field professionals. This is done through social events, fundraisers,
and attendance at the NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference in Rochester every December. A President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Publicity Manager are elected by by club members each Spring for the following academic year. Recent events that Saint Rose NAfME has held:
- Time Management Presentation by Dan Foster, active freelance musician and teacher.
- Interview Techniques and Preparation Workshop by Dr. Laura Dornberger, SUNY Fredonia.
- Rehearsal Technique and Classroom Motivation by Dr. Peter Boonshaft, Hofstra University.
- Attendance at the NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference in Rochester, NY.
- Charity Thanksgiving fundraising competition between Saint Rose studio classes for American Red Cross Foundation.
- Yoga for Musicians by Dr. Yvonne Hansbrough, The College of Saint Rose.
- Orff Lesson Planning Workshops for the Elementary Music Classroom
