“Slut-shaming baby girls is really not okay”: Billboard is under fire for tweeting now-deleted... 10/30/2015

"Word to the wise: If you’re a social media writer thinking of posting a slut-shaming, unnecessarily s*xualized caption about a two-year-old, call your editor? (Or your therapist? Whoever picks up first, really). Earlier this morning, Billboard apparently posted a picture of Kim Kardashian holding daughter North West, who is licking a lollipop, along with the caption 'the apple doesn’t fall from the tree.' The post itself details an incident where the paparazzi tried to snap a picture of North West and the poor besieged toddler shouted 'no pictures,' so naturally Billboard decided to post said unwanted picture, and add a degrading caption to boot."

What's your reaction?

Shogofa is 19. I can feel her determination all the way from Afghanistan. indeed!

23 Gendered Products That Prove How Truly Fragile Masculinity Is 09/30/2015

A pregnant acquaintance of mine will learn the s*x of her baby next week. In a fb post today, she asked "touchdowns or tutus?" and invited friends to guess the s*x of her unborn child. I want to tell her that alliteration is nice, but touchdowns and tutus have nothing to do with the s*x assigned to her child at birth and to gender her child in this way--before it is even born--can be incredibly damaging. Then I came across this list of 23 gendered products (including manly soap and cough drops and tomatoes) and was reminded (again) that gendering EVERYTHING never stops.

Whom would you like to hear speak? If you have ideas (or would yourself like to share your experience), pm this group or email Eden Wales Freedman at [email protected].
