On March 27 Towanda was awarded the 2026 Harold K. Stubbs Humanitarian Award for Social Action. Towanda was recognized for her leadership as Chair of the Sojourner Truth Project—Akron, and the creation of the Sojourner Truth Legacy Plaza.
The annual dinner, hosted by the St. Paul AMEC Akron, OH, recognizes individuals whose service and leadership have made a lasting impact across Akron. The annual dinner continues to highlight community service by spotlighting outstanding leaders and supporting the next generation through scholarship awards. According to organizers, the evening served as a powerful reminder of Stubbs’ legacy — one rooted in service, leadership and a steadfast commitment to uplifting the Akron community.
Congratulations Towanda!
