The famous Stoic philosopher Epictetus famously asked, "How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?"

We would add demand the best for your crew and the citizens that depend on you.

THE COMFORT OF INACTION!!!!!

Aiken County Government Council voted 5-3 against live streaming of their meetings. Votes for approve the live streaming were Mike Kellems Aiken County Council Dist. 2 - Aiken County Council Dist. 2, Landon Ball - Aiken County Council District 4 - Aiken County Council District 4, and Andrew Siders - Aiken County Council District 7 - Aiken County Council District 7. Votes against were cast by Aiken County Council Chairman Gary Bunker, Sandy Haskell, Phil Napier - Aiken County Council District 6, Ron Felder County Council District 1, and PK Hightower for Aiken County Council District 8. Danny Feagin - Aiken County Council District 3 was a no show.

So are we hiding the fact that we don’t know what we are talking about half the time or simply scared to let the citizens know how you really conduct business?

Haskell is out the door this year so why vote No? Influenced by others how to vote?

Napier we know does not like change and things we run should run like they did decades ago.

Bunker has just lost all recollection of his campaign to run and has become a true simple-minded politician is seems.

Felder after his Wagener ordeal we already know he does not know much as he accused members of the department of not living in the fire district but one, among other allegations.

Hightower doesn’t know if we have brush fires enough to constitute a department charging for vacant land.

The Post and Courier reports that the Chairman is making approximately $16,800 per year and individual district council members making about $13,440 per year. If our county can't afford the estimated $5K for live streaming then maybe $1,400 or so needs to be taken out of these salaries to offset to show their full transparency.

“Before the vote on the live streaming resolution, Hightower made a motion to amend it to include an evaluation, after 12 months, to “make sure it (live streaming) is a good use of county funds,” especially in terms of the number of viewers.” Dede Biles, Post and Courier. Why does this matter? If one person watches and benefits due to being a disabled person, single mother at home with kids or many other scenarios is enough but we guess not for Hightower.

A new group will be weighing in on how dirty water is dealt with in Aiken County and other places nearby.
