Lenawee Christian Academy

We are excited to have had a part in the launch of a new sister school, Lenawee Christian Academy. LCA will serve students from all over the globe who are seeking an online education. To learn more about this exciting new online middle school, read the article below. Congratulations to Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Keibler, Mr. Jameson, Miss Reynolds, Dr. Colman, and the entire LCA team for developing a new standard for online, Christian education!

After more than a year of preparation, we are excited to officially announce the beginning of Lenawee Christian Academy; an online middle school tailored to you!

Joining Drama his junior year, Sam generously shared his gifts with us in four productions. His heart for truth, his dedication to uncovering it, his fearlessness to face it, and his willingness to portray it brought great depth of character to every part he played. This was especially evident in Sam's thoughtful and highly skilled performance as Juror #5 in 2019's production of 12 Angry Jurors. We will greatly miss Sam, but pray God’s abundant blessings will be his now and always, equipping and empowering him for every good work.

With many years of vocal study and theatrical experience, Ethan has been a great asset on the LCS stage for five productions. A highly intuitive actor with great vocal ability, the gifts God has poured out over Ethan are obvious. His portrayal of Jean ValJean in 2019's Les Mis was especially nuanced and rich, while his turn as Juror 3 in the fall’s 12 Angry Jurors was charged with discomforting ferocity. It’s no surprise he will be continuing to grow those gifts in Siena Heights’ theatre program. We pray God will continue to shape Ethan for His purpose with Christ dwelling fully in his heart through a deeply rooted and established faith.

Jonathan is a young man of great spiritual maturity and we loved the very positive attitude he brought to our theatre family. The Secret Garden was his first production, and while it proved to be an abbreviated experience, Jonathan’s eagerness to learn and teachability allowed him to grow tremendously in our short time together. Our prayer is that, like Christ, Jonathan will continue to “grow in wisdom and stature gaining favor with God and people.” – Luke 2:52
#LCSClassof2020 #LifeofInfluence #LCSStories

What a blessing to have Eric join our theatre family his Senior year. He brought such quiet strength to Juror 11 in our fall production of 12 Angry Jurors, capturing the maturity of one who had faced great adversity and risen above with dignity. Throughout the experience Eric lived out James 3:17, “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” We pray this wisdom continues to shine within him all the days of his life.
#LCSClassof2020 #LifeofInfluence #LCSStories

With vast choral experience resulting in acceptance to the elite Michigan State Honors Choir, Zachary has been a cherished anchor within our Drama Department across the years. He has taken the stage in five LCS productions, excelling as Feuilly in last spring’s production of Les Mis. And while The Secret Garden never made it to the stage, the quiet strength he brought to his character, Captain Albert Lennox, was wonderful. We pray that as Zachary moves on from LCS our “God of hope will fill him with all joy and peace in believing, so that he will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
#LCSClassof2020 #LifeofInfluence #LCSStories

With five shows to her credit, Ava Rose has infused love and laughter into our Drama Department for many years. It has been such a joy watching God expand her range. Whether scowling about the stage as A Christmas Carol’s resentful Mrs. Cratchit, or glowing with a heart full of love as charming Cosette in Les Mis, Ava Rose has brought excellence again and again, lifting each performance to God as an offering to Him. While we will deeply miss her, we rejoice that Ava Rose leaves us knowing that even “doing little things with a strong desire to please God makes them really great” (St Frances de Sales). God’s richest blessings to you!
#LCSClassof2020 #LifeofInfluence #LCSStories

After relying heavily upon Anah behind the scenes as a hard-working crew member for several shows, we were thrilled when she decided to unleash her talents on stage last fall as Juror #9 in 12 Angry Jurors. It’s always a challenge for student actors to portray elder adults, but Anah’s profound empathy allowed her to play the show’s oldest character with real heart and honesty. So proud of her! We will be cheering for Anah as she heads into the world exemplifying Proverbs 31:25: “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future.”
#LCSClassof2020 #LifeofInfluence #LCSStories

Jacob first appeared in The Sound of Music, and has shined on stage for another seven LCS productions. Living out Colossians 3:23, “Put your heart and soul into every activity you do, as though you are doing it for the Lord Himself and not merely for others” has made Jacob a highly valued member of our theatre family. We have cherished every moment with Jacob and pray God’s richest blessings will be his as he steps into the future God has planned.

Middle school Band students Keira N, Zyan B and Director Leslie Rubio each participated in the national event Taps Across America on Memorial Day today. CBS News featured a story on the cancellation of traditional Memorial Day celebrations around the county and the organization Taps for Veterans started a national event to encourage anyone that wanted to honor the sacrifice of those in the military to step out on to their front porch and sound Taps at 3:00 on Monday. Participants were encouraged to register for the event to receive a patch for participating and upload their videos to the Taps for Veterans YouTube channel. Thank you to all service members who gave their lives for us. May God give peace and love to their families as we remember them today. #TapsAcrossAmerica #TapsForVeterans

The Final Countdown of Third Grade ft. Mrs. Powers

Mrs. Powers reminds us that it's the final countdown to the end of the school year! What an adventure it has been. We are looking forward to the reunion tour, Mrs. Powers! 😂❤️

A school countdown. We do not own the rights to this song.

An Important Message Regarding Next School Year

We pray that you and your families are safe. As we look toward the future, we invite you to listen to this special message from the CEO of Lenawee Christian Ministries, Dr. Jim Colman.

Although the current pandemic has created some real challenges, we are pressing forward with plans to start another school year in the fall. We intend to open school in August and to provide all our activities. We’re working with an important framework of three R’s – Refresh, Refocus, & Respond. Since we want to keep students and staff safe, we are building plans that respond to CDC and health department guidelines. A special committee composed of school leadership, Parent Advisory Board members, and health professionals will release these plans soon. As we work to prepare for the new normal, our goal is to provide the best Christian education experience possible.

We are lifting up senior athletes who couldn't compete in athletics this final spring of their time at LCS. Each post will be accompanied by reflections by their spring coach. We love and cherish the memories we have with these gifted students and are excited to see what God has in store for their future!

Today's honoree is Hutson Hohlbein. "Hutson has the uncanny ability to make those around him better. He lives his life with purpose and works tirelessly to perfect the task at hand. Hutson leads both on and off the field and has set a wonderful example for the rising classes as to what hard work looks like. Hutson will be a spectacular college football player and an even better leader. We will surely miss Hutson’s leadership and example." Coach Reed

From all of us at LCS... we love and miss you, Hutson!

We pray God's continued blessing and protection on your life, Bree! We look forward to cheering you on both in your senior year, at Gonzaga, and wherever else God leads. From all of us at LCS, congratulations!

She has a driven spirit and glorifies God in everything she does. She is a phenomenal role model for the underclassmen. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to get to know Libby this season and to have had her guidance to shape our softball program for years to come." Coach Sanford

Today's honoree is Michael Braman. "Michael provides the edge and the spark to the team. He is an aggressive competitor who always found a way to grind out at bats and wreaked havoc on the bases. He consistently raised the bar for those around him and made others better by lifting them up. His feel for the game is something that you can’t teach. We talk about leaving things better than you found them and he set a great example for the next wave of Cougar baseball players." Coach Reed

Last year she ran the 4x100 and the 3200 at the state meet. She is tough to race against, no matter what the distance. She has been a great mentor to our younger runners. Dan Kesterke Music and Education

Our band director, Mrs. Rubio joined a “virtual band” during the pandemic! Here is a musical piece from their most recent performance. Great job, Mrs. Rubio!

The Virtual Band 2.0 performs "Soundtrack Highlights from Avengers: Endgame." This piece by Alan Silvestri and arranged by Michael Brown was performed by musicians from Michigan to New York working under quarantine due to the COVID-19. Musicians submitted videos and were aligned and mixed with Logic Pro X and Final Cut Pro.

Today's honoree is Caitlin Anderson. "Caitlin can flip a switch attitude-wise like very few can. She is kind and gentle in the hallways and classroom but an absolute warrior on the field. She was our shutdown defensive midfielder who would often draw the toughest match-up in the middle of the field, but she was also a weapon offensively. I will miss the kind and gentle Caitlin, as well as the warrior!" Coach Sharpe

From all of us at LCS... we love and miss you, Caitlin!

LCS Class of 2020 Senior Scholars

Today we would like to honor our senior scholar recipients for the #LCSClassof2020. The senior scholar program recognizes those seniors who have met rigorous academic achievements during their high school coursework at LCS. This achievement is very difficult and shows the effort and grit of those who have earned this honor.

“We are proud of each student who has earned the distinction of Senior Scholar. You have demonstrated your academic achievement through your cumulative GPA and performance on either the ACT or SAT. Great job!” – Mr. Crafts

From all of us at LCS, congratulations to our 2020 senior scholar recipients!

Today is the National Day of Prayer. Join us today as we pray for the leaders of our nation, state, county, and communities. The National Day of Prayer has great significance for us as a nation as it enables us to recall and to teach the way in which our founding fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It stands as a call for us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. The unanimous passage of the bill establishing the National Day of Prayer as an annual event, signifies that prayer is as important to our nation today as it was in the beginning.

Like Thanksgiving or Christmas, this day has become a national observance placed on all Hallmark calendars and observed annually across the nation and in Washington, D.C. Every year, local, state, and federal observances were held from sunrise in Maine to sunset in Hawaii, uniting Americans from all socio-economic, political and ethnic backgrounds in prayer for our nation. It is estimated that over two million people attended more than 30,000 observances – organized by approximately 40,000 volunteers. At state capitols, county court houses, on the steps of city halls, and in schools, businesses, churches and homes, people stopped their activities and gathered for prayer.

To learn more about this day, visit https://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/about.
