Students donβt come into our classrooms empty.
They come with experiences, community knowledge, and real-world connections that should drive how we teach science.
At MosesSTEMinc L3C, we center funds of knowledge to support sensemaking, engagement, and equity in STEM.
This is how we shift from students memorizing scienceβ¦
to students actually making sense of it. π§ͺ

π¬πππ STEM: Where Culture Meets Innovation
When students see themselves in both culture and science, learning becomes meaningful. By connecting Mardi Gras and Black History to STEM, weβre showing our students that:
β¨ Engineering
β¨ Math
β¨ Chemistry
β¨ Data Science
β¨ Systems Thinking
β¦all live right inside their community and history.
At MosesSTEMinc, we empower learners to design, create, and think like innovatorsβrooted in who they are and where they come from.
π Classroom Spotlight:
Students design a STEM Mardi Gras Float honoring a Black STEM innovator and explain the science behind it.
Creativity + Culture + Critical Thinking = Innovation.

AG science teachers never cease to amaze me in all that they do. I am training 58 AG teachers in person 4 times this year in my PLC community. The start of the year is all about learning all things FFA. Sketchnotes work great with AG science.
Most AG teachers print their own notebooks so they can add in all the handouts needed for FFA. This notebook is printed on 65 weight paper and bound with a bounding machine.
