Dyslexia is the most common learning difference. It is believed that 10-20% of the population has some form of dyslexia.

When we say dyslexia, we
🧠deepen our understanding
👄provide a name for struggles
💪🏼empower those with dyslexia

‼️Did you know that the United States Department of Education sent out a letter in 2015 to all schools clarifying that there is nothing in the IDEA that prohibits the use of the term dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia in an IDEA evaluation, eligibility determination, or IEP document?

For quite some time, there has been a shift in language within the community from person-first to identity-first. This is a personal decision, but as we see the being highlighted and the movement for options to identify on platforms like LinkedIn, awareness of this shift in language for neurodiverse thinkers is essential.

So, let’s say dyslexia. Let’s educate ourselves so that we can better serve and honor our students. 🦋

Wow! I am so proud of Olivia. She went from a Lexile score of 675 to a Lexile score of 1030 in just one school year! That is well below target level to above target level. She is incredible!
