We celebrate and honor a special member of the Accident Elementary family. For 35 years, Mrs. Rebecca Fike has been the heart of our front office, welcoming students, families, staff, and community members with kindness and patience.
Over the years, Becky has witnessed generations of students walk through the doors of Accident Elementary, including her own children (Andy, Shawn, and Jared). She has the special privilege of seeing many former students return to Accident as parents, bringing their own children to our school. Her dedication and commitment helped shape the culture, traditions, and spirit of the Accident Elementary community for more than three decades.
Throughout her 35 year career, Becky worked alongside six different school nurses and even served as the school nurse when she was first hired.
She collaborated with approximately 182 staff members and welcomed hundreds of students each year.
Throughout her career, Becky worked alongside three substitute principals and provided guidance and support to six school administrators: Bob Wilson, Sandy Nesline, Sheila Miller, Karen DeVore, Dave Yoder, and Jessica Fratz. Her professionalism, ability to adapt to different leadership styles, knowledge, and steady presence were invaluable to each leader she served and to the continued success of the school.
As the person responsible for student registration for 35 years, Becky was often one of the first faces families met, helping countless students and parents feel welcomed and connected from the very beginning of their journey at Accident Elementary.
Her impact reaches far beyond answering phones, organizing schedules, or keeping the office running smoothly. She built relationships, offered comfort during difficult moments, celebrated successes with students and staff, and became someone people could always count on.
While her daily presence at Accident Elementary will be deeply missed, her legacy will remain woven into the history of this school and the lives of the many people she has touched over the past 35 years.
Mrs. Fike, Ms. Becky, Beck, Rebecca, we celebrate you on your well deserved retirement and thank you for 35 years of faithful service, dedication, and love for Accident Elementary and Garrett County Public Schools.
We wish you endless joy, relaxation, and many wonderful memories in this next chapter of life.

Our 4th & 5th Grade Gifted & Talented students held an exciting Invention Convention! During Quarter 3, students selected and read biographies about inventors and completed projects highlighting their contributions. In Quarter 4, students identified a problem they face in everyday life and worked through the invention process to create their own unique solutions.
Students designed display boards, diagrams, and presentations to showcase their inventions. Families and peers were invited to attend the convention, listen to presentations, and โinvestโ in the projects.
Congratulations to our winners:
