Celebrating Excellence and Activism in Philadelphia

We were honored to welcome Brother Colin Kaepernick to Philadelphia as part of his Lumi AI reading project, in collaboration with the School District of Philadelphia and the Mayor’s Office of Education. This initiative is a testament to his unwavering commitment to education and empowerment.

On behalf of the Kappa Alpha Psi Abington Ambler PA Alumni Chapter, Brother Will Mega, serving in the Mayor’s Office of Education, presented Brother Kaepernick with a custom Kappa Kane. This exquisite piece, crafted by Brother Mike Price, was a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for Kaepernick’s activism and alignment with the principles of Achievement that Kappa Alpha Psi holds dear.

Brother Kaepernick was genuinely surprised and appreciative when he discovered his line name engraved on the Kane, expressing his delight with, “You even included my line name!” It was a memorable occasion that highlighted the power of brotherhood and dedication to making a difference.

Together, we continue to uplift our communities and inspire future generations through education and activism.

This showcase provides students grades 4-12 with a platform to share their perspectives, refine their public speaking skills, and inspire others through the power of Black history. As schools deeply rooted in the community, your students’ voices matter in shaping the historical and cultural conversations in Philadelphia.
