Lea has been missing for several days, and every passing hour is critical. 💔 Right now, several other children across Texas have also gone missing around the same time. Families across our state are hurting, and we need every set of eyes on this. 🛑

In March and April of 2026, the Taylor County Sheriff's Office joined Operation Soteria Shield 2026 — a statewide coordinated enforcement initiative involving 91 law enforcement agencies that resulted in 276 arrests across Texas. In Taylor County specifically, investigators executed multiple search warrants and arrested 11 individuals on charges related to documented law enforcement activity targeting minors online, according to KTXS News (June 2, 2026). Separately, in December 2025, the FBI's Abilene Resident Agency — working alongside the Abilene Police Department and Taylor County Sheriff's Office — conducted an investigation as part of Operation Relentless Justice, a nationwide DOJ initiative that resulted in over 293 arrests and the recovery of over 205 child victims across the country. Abilene sits directly on the I-20 corridor, a major East-West transit route that investigators have identified as a conduit for movement across the state. The FBI Dallas Field Office maintains a permanent Abilene presence specifically because of the level of documented enforcement activity in this region. This is not background noise. It is an active, well-documented threat environment confirmed by federal and local law enforcement operating in Taylor County — surrounding the area where Lea disappeared.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Within hours of the attacks, thousands of rescue workers traveled to Ground Zero to help with search and rescue efforts. More than 300 specially trained dogs joined them, searching for survivors and later helping with recovery efforts.

These four-legged heroes climbed through dangerous piles of debris, working tirelessly alongside their handlers. As the days passed and the chances of finding survivors became smaller, many of the dogs became discouraged and began to lose their search drive. Their handlers would even create “mock finds” to give the dogs a sense of success and keep them motivated.

They came to help us when we needed them most. Today, we remember the human heroes and the four-legged heroes who never gave up. ❤️🐾🇺🇸
