There's something so sweet about a returning client. 🥰 The first curly appointment is the hard part, where we build your shape from scratch and figure out your curls together. But after that? You come back and it's easy. Today was just a little trim, a little shape cleanup, and keeping all that healthy length we already built. She's been embracing her p**fy 90s Julia Roberts curls, and I am HERE for it.

Ever have that ONE piece of hair that refuses to lay right no matter what you do? 🙃 It's not you, and it's not a bad haircut. It's your growth pattern, aka the direction your hair decides to grow with zero input from you. You can't fight it, so the trick is working WITH it. We feathered her rebellious front piece so it swoops soft instead of stabbing her in the eyeball, took a little weight off for volume, and boom. Happy hair. 🥰

Ever notice your layers start to look a little uneven or "stacked" after a few months of growing out? 🤔 Totally normal, and it happens to the best haircuts. As curly layers grow, they settle differently around the round shape of your head, so what was seamless at your last cut can shift over time. That's just hair being hair. She wanted to bring everything closer to one length, but here's the curly catch: going fully one length can give you that triangle shape. 🎄 So we softened her layers, kept just enough movement, and landed it right at the top of her shoulders like she asked.

A year in a bun and she was scared to trust another stylist with her hair. 🙈 So we kept it simple: took off the dead weight, kept her length, and finally let those curls out of hair jail. Look at the difference a little cut and the right styling makes. 🥰

Here's a little stylist secret: when you're nervous to lose length, I'll show you the bare minimum we HAVE to take and the maximum I'd go, then we meet in the middle where you feel good. 💇‍♀️ No surprises, no tears. You should always know exactly what's happening before I pick up my scissors.

Oh, and fun fact: your hair grows fastest in summer. We're basically plants. 🌱☀️

Real talk: describing what you want done to your hair is HARD. 🥴 Most of us don't have the words for it, and honestly that's not on you. A big part of my job is translating "I want it to look good but also easy" into an actual haircut. So if you've ever sat in the chair and blanked on how to explain what you wanted, same. You're so normal.

Have y'all ever left a hair appointment in tears? 😢 Because she had. So many bad experiences that she gave up and pulled her hair up every single day for a whole YEAR. By the time she got to my chair, she was straight up scared. So we slowed down and really listened to what she wanted.

That never gets old. This is why I do what I do. Curly hair isn’t a problem to fix, it’s a pattern to understand. So proud of these babes for trusting the process (and me lol). That cowlick trick though. 😍 She flipped her hair up and said "I've never seen my hair THIS curly." No crunch, no heavy product feel, just soft bouncy curls that move. And if you've got a cowlick that won't behave, grab a comb, zig zag zig zag right into it, fluff, and watch it disappear. Look up, shake your head, and boom. Curls on, curls on, curls. 🥰
