Forty years.

Today, the individual responsible for supplying the illicit fentanyl that killed Matthew Wright was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Nothing about today changes the fact that Matthew should be here. A son was lost. A family was forever changed.

But accountability matters.

We stand with Matthew’s family as they continue to carry the unimaginable weight of this loss, and we thank the investigators, law enforcement officers, and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to bring this case to justice.

Matthew’s life mattered. His story matters. And the consequences of fentanyl poisoning are real.

As fentanyl continues to take lives across our state, families are left asking why accountability varies so dramatically from one courtroom to the next. Every life matters. Every family deserves consistency, transparency, and a justice system that reflects the devastating reality of fentanyl poisoning.

A fascinating TED talk that must be watched for anyone who has been touched by addiction.

This powerful talk by Johann Hari challenges the way we think about addiction and recovery. It reminds us that connection, community, and belonging are critical in both prevention and healing.

As we work to raise awareness about the fentanyl crisis, this message continues to resonate. If you haven’t watched it yet, we encourage you to take 15 minutes and give it a listen.
