Anti-corruption court has handed a court fine of 9 million shillings to the Human Resource Officer for Nakasongola District Local Government, Joshua Kyenkya after convicting him of creating 37 ghost employees on the District pay roll.

Anti corruption Judge Margaret Tibulya has also ordered Kyenkya to refund 81.8 million shillings to Nakasongola District Local Government and barred him from holding a public office for a period of 10 years.

Failure to pay the Court fine; Kyenkya is to serve nine years in Luzira Prison.

The Electoral Commission has started a nationwide exercise to verify particulars of voters on the National Voters’ Register using village (LC 1) Councils.

The exercise will be conducted in all villages throughout Uganda starting today, and will end on 28th of October.

The purpose of the verification exercise is to enable members of the particular village to scrutinise their respective Register and identify persons who are not eligible to be on the Voters’ Register for their village, for example, the dead and those who left the area as Paul Bukenya the deputy spokes person of the Electoral commission explains.
