Understanding a law pre entry comprehesion passage.

From Kindergarten to high school, many teachers encouraged you to read outside the box when reading a comprehesion passage.

However, passages for law pre entry are supposed to be taken at face value. Never look beyond the lines of what has been written. Stick to what the author is trying to put forward not what your conventional wisdom tells you.

A law pre entry passage has three important features.
1. Structure. This is how the passage is written or organised.
2. Main point. This is the "what" and "why" of the passage. What is the author trying to convey and why is the author trying to convey it?
3. The tone. This is the language and type of style used. It communicates clearly the author's emotion.

Some tips for those intending to prepare for law pre entry exams 2020

1. Your performance has nothing to do with passing law pre entry exam. I have seen candidates who scored 14 points get a better score than those who scored 20 points.
2. Don't spend time on your phone chasing Lugambo as a vacist. Have some time to use those mbs you load to get informed about many things you didn't get to learn at school especially current affairs.
3. There are free apps that can help you learn something in some sections of the paper like numerical skills, comprehension, logical reasoning, emotional intelligence and probably critical writing. You will need these skills to perform better.
4. Get past papers and find out if you have enough skills to answer 60% of the questions in those papers. You can't sit down when you don't know the format of the paper you intend to do.
5. If you are lucky to have a tutor to help on basics, please do but find out genuine ones who will give you a broader outlook of what is expected not those who will convince you that they can get for you the questions that are going to be set. A pre entry exam is not a Uneb exam where a person can predict what will be set, it requires your own intelligence and exposure not necessarily revising past papers.
Law school is for the prepared mind, there is no shortcut.

Critical reasoning is essential for anybody aspiring to do law. check on the question below and submit your response with reasons if you can.
QUESTION 1:
Groups that oppose action to reduce emission of gases that contribute to global warming have major incentives to deny the existence of global warming. Many of these groups are backed by wealthy individuals or corporations that have a lot to lose from a new regulatory regime governing greenhouse gas emissions. This makes it likely that these groups’ publications will contain inaccurate information or misrepresent evidence about global warming.

LOGICAL STATEMENTS:
English statements are sometimes logical so one has to find out if the conclusion is valid. An example is given below

All painters are artists.
Some magicians are artists.
So, some magicians are painters.
The conclusion is invalid because there could be painters who are not magicians and not artists.
