In the end, all we have is love and the chance to say goodbye. Today, Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro has been denied both. His wife is gone, the woman he made vows with, the one he called home, and he cannot even lay her to rest. He cannot hold her one last time, cannot stand by her grave, cannot whisper that final goodbye.

What kind of justice looks a grieving husband in the eyes and chooses procedure over compassion? What kind of system hardens its heart at a moment like this?

This is no longer just about law, it is about humanity. It is about a country where grief is met with cold decisions, where power forgets what it means to be human. Today it is Alex, tomorrow it could be anyone forced to mourn through walls, denied the dignity every human being deserves.

There are moments when a nation is tested, not by its strength, but by its compassion. This was one of them, and we failed.

Some goodbyes are sacred. Some moments can never be returned. And denying a man the right to bury his wife is not justice, it is cruelty dressed in authority.
