The 9th AFREhealth Conference placed a clear challenge before Africa’s health community: innovation must move beyond novelty to measurable impact. Discussions emphasized African-led solutions, responsible and human-centred use of AI, stronger health-professions education, and investment in a well-supported and retained health workforce. Presentations demonstrated practical applications of technology in primary healthcare, maternal and reproductive health, clinical diagnosis and learning, while also underscoring academic integrity, patient safety and contextual relevance. Other salient issues included translating research into policy and practice, integrating responses to communicable and non-communicable diseases, strengthening community-based care, and building sustainable partnerships that move beyond dependence on aid. As usual the message emphasize the theme: Africa has no shortage of ideas; the task now is to implement, evaluate, scale and sustain what works.

Today, Clarke International University (CIU) and African Children’s Choir took an important step toward expanding access to quality education by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Through this partnership, members of the Africa Children’s Choir will receive a 50% tuition discount at CIU, creating greater opportunities for talented young people to pursue higher education and build a brighter future.
The MOU was signed by Dr. Milka Singh, Deputy Vice Chancellor of CIU; Sean Clarke, CEO of Clarke Group Education; and Abraham Kiyingi, Country Director of Music for Life Uganda.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to investing in young people, removing barriers to education, and empowering the next generation to transform their communities.
At CIU, we believe that education should open doors — and together, we are making those doors more accessible. 🎓🌍
