Tribute from Rose's Journey scholarship Alumni.
Today, we celebrate one of our own—Vivian Ruth Kayaga, a Rose's Journey scholar and a Diploma in Pharmacy graduate from Clarke International University. Vivian's journey is a true testament to what happens when opportunity meets determination. With support from the Rose's Journey Scholarship fund, she not only completed her studies but also stood out as an academic leader in her cohort.
In her own words, " Looking back, I see how your investment in my education has shaped my path, empowered my ambitions, and nurtured a deeper sense of responsibility to impact others as I have been impacted. Every milestone in my academic and professional journey will forever carry the mark of your generosity. I am profoundly grateful for your faith in me, for the doors that you helped open, and for the future you helped me build. May Rose's Journey scholarship Fund continue to flourish and inspire many more students to rise above challenges and realise their fullest potential."

HOW THE RJSF HAS IMPACTED MY MEDICAL JOURNEY
Thanks to the Rose's Journey Support Fund (RJSF), my journey in clinical medicine has been made much easier. Established by Dr. Rose C. Nanyonga, this fund helps medical students who show promise and share the values of Rose's Journey.
The RJSF has eased the financial burden of a diploma in clinical medicine for me. With their support, I can focus on studying and gaining clinical experience without worrying about money.
Being part of the RJSF community has been inspiring. I've met other students and mentors who believe in providing excellent care with compassion and resilience. This motivates me to excel in my studies and be a caring doctor.
The fund taught me the importance of empathy and putting patients first. Through workshops and mentorship, I've learned to be humble and advocate for my patients' well-being.
Additionally, the RJSF encouraged me to take on leadership roles and make positive changes in healthcare. With their guidance, I feel confident in making a difference in the medical field.
Overall, the Rose's Journey Support Fund has been a huge help in my medical journey. It's not just about money; it's about community, inspiration, and making a meaningful impact in healthcare. I'm grateful for their support in shaping me into the doctor I aspire to be.

We love to hear back from our scholarship recipients.
“I am deeply grateful and honored to receive the Rose’s Journey scholarship. To me, it represents far more than financial support; it is an opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming a compassionate and dedicated nurse while carrying forward the RJ legacy of giving back to the community. This award motivates me to work even harder, affirming the efforts I have already made, and inspires me to excel in my studies. My goal is not only to earn my Bachelor of Nursing degree but also to use this opportunity to care for and uplift my community, ensuring that the cycle of Rose’s Journey continues in the lives of the disadvantaged. Long live Rose’s Journey and the family’s sacrifices.”

It's been a while since I wrote about issues impacting nurses and midwives. here we go...Nurses and midwives tirelessly perform demanding, often physically exhausting work for their patients around the clock. Unfortunately, much of their contributions are not adequately quantified in terms of their economic value, which directly impacts their compensation. In this issue, we delve into the true economic value of nursing and midwifery and urge policymakers to embrace a paradigm shift that fully acknowledges the critical importance of these professions. Before the month ends, I wanted to share one of my favorite moments captured this month: showing my Mum the much-coveted letter from the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), recommending Clarke International University (CIU) to the President of the Republic of Uganda for a Charter. I was overjoyed and immensely proud to share this collective achievement with her.
Do you remember those report cards we eagerly took home because we were first in class? That’s exactly how it felt. Only, this was better. If you’ve been alongside me on this journey, you understand how significant this milestone is for CIU. The recommendation for the grant of a Charter highlights CIU's commitment to providing high-quality education and enhances the overall development of the higher education sector in Uganda.
I feel incredibly privileged to lead CIU during this season and take immense pride in our team's collective effort in securing this important endorsement from NCHE. # Bravo
