Digital Woman Uganda (DWU) has received funding from the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) to implement a project titled “Leveraging mobile technology to enhance knowledge and skills of post-harvest management practices among smallholder farmers in Eastern Uganda”.
The project’s overall objective is to leverage mobile technology to improve access to knowledge, information, and use of improved post-harvest management technologies and markets for smallholder farmers in Eastern Uganda. Providing knowledge, skills, and information on improved postharvest handling and storage will lead to a reduction in post-harvest losses and thus improve farmer income, and improve food safety and security. Additionally, an improvement in post-harvest handling practices by farmers will increase the availability of quality grain for export.
