EISMAT To Help Workplaces To Return To Work Safely.

The country is preparing for a return to business after the Covid 19 imposed lock down. There is therefore a dire need for work places to ensure that their workplaces are safe for employees among others.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006, no. 9, Section 13(1)(a): "to take, as far as is reasonably practicable, all measures for the protection of his or her workers and the general public from the dangerous aspects of the employers undertaking at his or her own cost".

This therefore implies the need for a risk assessment, to show the duty of care by employers to their employees, contractors, visitors, and customers or members of the public. Click on this link to learn how EISMAT proposes to help workplaces: http://bitly.ws/8vA8.

EISMAT is a private institute registered and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Sports; (License No. ME/VOC/227) and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (Certificate Number; OSH: 001492/A) since its inception in 2017. EISMAT is the leading licensed institute in Uganda to train occupational safety, health and environment disciplines, management and technology programmes.

A good morning to you all from Exceed Institute of Safety Management and Technology,
As the leading institute of occupational safety and health in East Africa, we vow to keep you posted on how to keep your safe.
More about Covid 19.

PEOPLE AT RISK OF ILL HEALTH FROM COVID 19

01. Around 1 out of every 6 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing.
02. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness.
03. People with fever, cough and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.

Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment.

HOW DOES COVID 19 SPREAD?

• People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus.

• The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

• These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person.

• Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.

• People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets.

• This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.

PROTECTION MEASURES FOR EVERYONE

You can reduce your chances of being infected or spreading COVID-19 by taking some simple precautions:

• Stay aware of the latest information on the COVID-19 outbreak.

• Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

• Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

• Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19.

• Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth.
STAY SAFE MEMBERS

Dear friends,
Hope you had a good day!!
Exceed Institute of Safety Management and Technology urges us to observe the Ministry of Health guidelines in combating Covid 19.

As we wait for the state of the nation address to night, let's learn more about Covid 19.

COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus.

This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.

The incubation period for COVID-19 range from 1-14 days, most commonly around five days.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are:
• fever,
• tiredness, and
• dry cough.
Some patients may have:
• aches and pains,
• nasal congestion,
• runny nose,
• sore throat or
• diarrhoea.
These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually.

Dear Friends,

The globe is going through toughest times for a generation and we hope and want you and your families to all stay safe and well during this difficult time.

Whilst the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Uganda is still low (23 as of 28th day of March 2020), the government has taken stringent measures to try to control the spread of the disease. Schools, places of worship and all non-food markets have been closed for at least 30 days and public transport has been suspended. People are, understandably, scared; a few days without work, for many, means no food on the table.
In response to the corona virus outbreak in Uganda, Exceed Institute of Safety, Management and Technology is supporting the public health community’s work to keep Ugandans safe and informed.
As the leading institute of safety and health in the country, we’ve taken steps to make sure everyone has access accurate information, support health experts, local governments, businesses and community.
Follow EISMAT page to know more about Covid 19 and how to prevent your family and loved ones from contracting the deadly illness.
