Hello friends, thought I should update you on our progress. My goal has been to show the community that its possible to use a small lot
and generate enough food.
In short, From a 50x100ft piece of land, Its possible to annualy generate $950 from 60 matooke plants, earn $1,100 from 5 pigs, $400 from vegetables and $700 from one cow. Total approx. US$3,150 or about $300 per month. These are estimates and hey, dont worry about the quality of the video. Enjoy

Facebook says I need to share something with the 480 friends of this page. Since I'm on safari in Murchison Falls Park, I can share with you a photo of a lovely juvenile elephant I saw this morning. He lost his trunk to snares set by poachers so getting food to his mouth is quite a challenge. He manages though! I was glad to see wildlife populations on the rise once again.

Tracking progress at GCV

We are enhancing our farming activities to ensure self sustainability of our activities at GCV. With support from our partner Esther Duineveld and friend Mikael Karlmark we were able to plant 100 Banana/plantain suckers commonly known as Matooke and our goal is to plant 1,000 by the end of this year. You are welcome to be part of this community transforming initiative by supporting us.

About 7 months ago, some tourists visited our community and I engaged them in setting up a garden. Today I took this photo to compare and hey, kids are already enjoying a balanced diet.

These children not in Uniform are from the marginalised Batwa community, (you can read more about Pygmies of Echuya Forest to understand their plight), and we are happy to have them at GCV. We hope their future lies in Education. They have been in our school for a year but without school uniform and shoes. Our friend is helping them through her friends in Austria. If u wish to buy uniform for them, please get in touch. Thank you Rommie for helping these kids.
