Training the servants of God in East Africa through solid Biblical teaching, relevant theological examination and practical ministry skills.
Uganda Baptist Seminary meets the needs of theological education for over 250 students each year who are pastors and church leaders by offering three levels: Certificate, Diploma and Bachelor's programs of study. From its inception, UBS has followed rigorous academic curriculum offered during short residential periods. This is done in the context of authentic Baptist ministry. Certificate and Dipl

Today, UBS students finish their term and travel home. Please pray for traveling mercies.
Also, our faculty and staff finally get a little break. Please pray for them as they get to rest some and catch up on the work that gets pushed off while teaching.
Today was our awards chapel, full of celebration for these students! Awards for high marks, the Frost Award for college life, Sivage Award for most improved student, Principal's award outstanding overall, Computer technology...and even the Methuselah (oldest student) and Ssekimpi (shortest student) awards!

Today, we finished our term. Students are traveling home, so keep them in prayers.
Also, pray for the faculty. At least four of them will travel hours from Jinja this weekend to do ministry. Then they will return and be ready to welcome students for a new term on Monday.

Today is the final day of classes for this term. We had our final chapel, where the faculty charged the students to apply what theyβve learned as they go home, in order to faithfully preach Christ crucified, resurrected, ascended, and returning.
Please pray for our students as they travel. Some of them will travel for a couple days to reach home. They will travel on buses, taxis, bodas, and even footing. Pray for traveling mercies and safe travels.
While we strive to glorify God through excellence in the classroom, the best part of UBS is the student/teacher relationships. As you walk through our buildings, it is likely you will find students in the professorsβ offices. They may be discussing assignments, but more often than not, the conversation is about life, family, and ministry.
We are thankful for a faculty that cares about the person, not just the grade.
Students must be excited to be here, because, on the first day of class, chapel is already full! Praise God!
Way to get the term off to a good start.
Today marks the close of the term. Our students are traveling home; some of them are taking long journeys. Please keep them in your prayers that they might reach safely.
Also, the next term begins March 14. The classes reporting will be: BTH 20 (term 5), BTH19 (term 7), D41 (term 4), and C26 (term 4).
If there are any questions, please email our Deputy Principal of Academic Affairs at: [email protected],,
or email our registrar at: [email protected]
When youβre ending the third week of all day classes and studying, you need a study break.

Below you will find the updated calendar for this year. It will also soon be available on our website. Please look for your cohort and make note of the dates you will come. Please also tell your classmates and friends.
On February 7th, BTH 17 (T9), BTH18 (T10), and C27 (T1) will be reporting to campus.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Uganda Baptist Seminary. We hope that you have enjoyed your holiday time with friends and family. We are fine here in Jinja, but there is big news that we need to announce. Because of the local and worldwide surge of the Omicron Covid-19 Variant, we will be pausing our opening in 2022. We were scheduled to reopen next week, the first week of January, but now we will delay that opening. For those of you scheduled to attend your courses next week, do not come to UBS. We will be calling all students with this information. Please help us and communicate with your fellow classmates this news.
It appears that this new variant moves very quickly and will hopefully burn itself out in Uganda soon. We hope to announce our reopening sometime soon once we receive more information about status of the prevalence of the virus within Uganda. We will reopen based on the order found in the 2022 Academic Calendar linked below. In other words, the classes scheduled for Term 1 will still come first. No one will be skipped. Term 1 will however start sometime later.
Thank you for your patience. We are praying for you during these challenging times.
Our faculty and staff came together and celebrated Christmas and all God has done, as we look forward to the new year. There was food, speeches, the reading of the Christmas story, and dancing. Oh and laughing. Lots of smiles and laughter.
The only way this could have been better was if our dear principal and his family had been with us. But we were thinking of the Sheltons and praying for them.
With that - UBS is officially on holiday. Merry Christmas! And Happy New Year!
(Videos of dancing in the comments)
Today is the end of the term. In our chapel time, we sang Christmas carols and charged the students to share and to practice what theyβve learned here. Please pray for the students in cohorts C25, D39, and BTH23 as they travel back to their families and ministries.
We are on Christmas break! But, we look forward to seeing the students in cohorts BTH17, BTH18, and C27 on January 3-28.
Remember that you can find our calendar on this page and on our website.
We are thankful to have Dr. Bledsoe come and preach the chapel sermon today. He exhorted us to guard the Gospel, to celebrate the Gospel, and to fight for the Gospel (1 Timothy 1:3-20).
Dr. Bledsoe was once on faculty at UBS. We are happy to have him teach here again - and we always rejoice to hear the right proclamation of the Word.
Andβ¦weβre back!
More students on the way coming.
(To those students on the way, you must be in class by Friday morning. If not, you have missed more than your three allowed absences. Do not come, please. We will have to send you home. If you have a question, message me.)
We have made an update to our UBS 2022 Calendar. We have added a new intake class - BTh20. This class is for diploma graduates looking to upgrade to degree level.
Good morning!
By now, I am sure everyone has heard the news that UBS is free to reopen on November 1, 2021. We are are excited to have students back on campus!
There have been lots of questions about who will be coming to campus first. We have decided to continue in our schedule from where we had to stop in June. Therefore, cohorts C25 (T7), D39 (T7), and BTH23 (T1) will be reporting November 1, 2021.
Those students should be receiving calls or emails, but, if you know someone in those cohorts, please let them know. For everyone else, we hope to have a full schedule for the 2022 school year posted next week. Check here and on our website for updates.
Thank you and we hope to see you soon!

Greetings from Jinja my brothers and sisters. This evening President Museveni has announced new regulations regarding schools and travel. The faculty will meet tomorrow morning to discuss what this means for Uganda Baptist Seminary. We will inform you as soon as possible what changes are in store. Please pray with us.

We want to take this opportunity to praise God for His faithfulness. 2020 has been difficult journey for people around the world. All schools in Uganda were closed in March as the pandemic moved throughout the world. In October, Uganda schools were allowed to open for "Candidate Students" only, providing that certain guidelines were met. UBS with our cohort that was closest to graduation opened in mid-October. This was a small group of nine students. On 9 December we had a small graduation on campus for these students. We are grateful to our friend Mr. Abraham Kasika of Western Uganda Baptist Theological Seminary for coming to be our guest speaker.
Whereas tens of thousands of school workers around Uganda lost their jobs due the pandemic, UBS was able to keep its employees through the generous donations of our partners. Our faculty and staff and students are extraordinarily grateful. Thank you to all who contributed through your financial giving and prayers.
We are planning to open again with our "Candidate Students" in February of 2021. We will be contacting the classes that are invited to return as we prepare the calendars. There are indications that schools will be able to open in full next year, but at this point, we have not been given the go ahead to invite all students to return. Please be praying with us that we will be able to open in full and continue to train pastors to be more excellent ministers of the Gospel in Uganda and the greater East Africa Region.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your families,
Dr. Anthony Shelton

We are very excited to announce a huge new project that we hope will sustain the financial needs of UBS for the next 100 years. God has given Uganda the extraordinary gift of an exceptional, agricultural landscape. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce a renewable and sustainable forestry project. Congratulations to our former Professor Lauren Rippetoe on her wedding to Daniel Reiter. She was a lovely bride.
The UBS family is again in sorrow at the passing of another pillar of our history. On Monday, Charlotte Abendroth went to be with the Lord. While we are saddened, we also celebrate that she is now reunited with Dallas. Please join us in prayer for their grieving families.
The UBS family grieves at the loss of one of our beloved professors - Dallas Abendroth. Dallas was a faithful servant of God who brightened the hearts of so many students and colleagues.
