The New York Metropolitan Museum is one of the largest and most famous art museums in the world, it stands on a par with the Louvre and the Hermitage, and visitors to New York (and even more so New Yorkers) simply cannot ignore this museum with their attention. “The last time I went to the Metropolitan on an excursion from school” is, perhaps, a characteristic: it means that the person is either very extravagant and unusual, or just a “felt boot”. For those who do not pretend to any of these definitions, I would still recommend going to the Met from time to time, although, of course, we have freedom in New York, everyone goes their own way and in their own direction (and thank God).
