In June 1927, on the initiative of the Ukrainian community of Liberec, a monument to the soldiers of the Mountain Brigade of the Ukrainian Galician Army was erected; On September 6, 2018, this monument, restored at the expense of Ukraine, was inaugurated at the Ruprechtice Military Cemetery.

The city was first mentioned in 1348. The textile industry has been developed in the city since the 16th century. The city flourished at the end of the XIX century. In the XIX-XX centuries. the city had a significant German community. Liberec (Reichenberg) was the center of N**i Sudeten Germany.
