Try to do, try doing ⠀

🤔 Are both correct? ⠀
😃 The answer is yes, they both are correct BUT they mean different things! ⠀

⠀

‘try to do’ -> make an effort ⠀
‘try doing’ -> experiment ⠀

⠀

🔸So, we say ‘try to do’ when an action itself is hard (in our opinion), e.g. try to open this door; try to buy a new apartment ⠀

🔹We say ‘try doing’ when an action is easy but we don’t know if we get any result, e.g: try adding more salt next time; try making your coffee with milk ⠀

My birthday is a special day for me, I love this day! 💕

First time in the city. Was nice, definitely new experience, definitely will go again ⠀

Painting ⠀
Oh yeah, I tried painting 🙈 that was cool, I realized that it’s not so hard and also that I needed to learn geometry in school more😂 ⠀

New flat ⠀
Moved in a new, bigger apartment. Now there’s now space and I have a decent working place. Oh yeah, and with a fine view🙂 ⠀

Covid ⠀
2021 started with a fewer, but not Covid yet 😝 it caught me at the end of Feb*, but was in a quite light form ⠀

3 weddings so far ⠀
More and more friends are getting married *, less and less single girlfriends🙈 ⠀

I became a teacher on an online platform, yeeey!) it took so long to make an introduction video, but I did it 💪
This experience allowed me to teach English, Russian AND UKRAINIAN from such various counties (India, Germany, Chile, Saudi Arabia) ⠀

New resort - Marsa-Alam, perfect entrance into the sea from the beach, amazing corals. Excellent place for snorkeling

Pleasant evenings in Kyiv ⠀
I’ve discovered the city where I’d lived for 5 years, new cafes, new tastes, new people ⠀

Since I was preparing 2 students for IELTS, I decided to take it by myself :) now I know the procedure from inside😜 ⠀

Начать учить английский ⠀

Что важно знать, чтобы овладеть англ на базовом уровне, достаточном для простого разговора или путешествия ⠀

1. Понять как строить предложения. В отличии от украинского (/рус) в англ порядок слов в предложении важен потому что это может повлиять на смысл. ⠀
2. Изучать слова в контексте (по теме). Основные слова (глаголы и существительные, ну можно ещё захватить прилагательные) о еде/ о деньгах / о работе / транспорте. ⠀
3. А лучше не отдельные слова, а целые фразы! Язык вполне шаблонный и чтобы звучать естественно важно знать словосочетания (не drink coffee, а have a cup of coffee; не relax, а take a break или have some rest) ⠀
4. Грамматика. Увы, без неё никак ... Понадобятся времена: Simple (present, past, future); Continuous (present); Perfect (present), pronouns (он, ему, его), nouns (countable, uncountable). Ну и ещё по мелочи пару тем 😜 ⠀

И главный залог успеха - говорить! Спокойно, никакого страха! Пытайся строить простейшие предложения из тех слов, фраз, что уже знаешь, а грамматика позже подтянется! 😉

Shadowing ⠀
When I was learning English myself it seemed easy to me to repeat the words and sounds after a teacher or an actor from a movie, so I could practice my pronunciation ⠀
When I became a teacher I realized that it actually may be a problem to match not only a pronunciation but also the right English intonation. So with some of my students (and still for myself) I use SHADOWING ⠀
It’s a technique that helps you improve your 1️⃣ speaking skills, get better pronunciation and natural sound 2️⃣ listening skills ⠀
Basically the process is really simple:
🔸 find a short audio or even video that you’ll like (YouTube, Netflix, audiobook, podcast) ⠀
🔸 listen to it once (you need to understand the context and the key words, so check the first point again 👆) ⠀
🔸if it’s still quite hard -> turn on the subtitles or a transcript, of it’s okay -> go ahead, start shadowing. Imagine that you’re the person from the audio and repeat the whole phrases or even a sentence which they said in the same manner they said (mimic intonations, stress, pauses) ⠀
It’s better, of course to repeat it a few times. This way you can train your diction and practice the new words. ⠀

Fun facts about English⠀

Learn not only a language, but also facts and origins of it ⠀

1. There is a sentence which contains EVERY letter of the alphabet. It’s called pangram
‘The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog’⠀

2. The shortest, oldest, and most commonly used word is “I.”⠀

3. A new word is added to the dictionary every two hours 😮 ⠀

4. There are words that don’t add any meaning to a sentence, we just use them to fill in some pauses and give us some time to think what to say. These words are called crutch / filler words.
The most common are ‘like, you know, kind of, well’⠀

5. Swims will be swims even when turned upside down.
Such words are called ambigrams ⠀

6. The longest common word with all the letters in alphabetical order is "almost”⠀

7. The longest word you can make using only four letters is "senseless”⠀

The English language is COOL
Even though sometimes it’s hard to learn a new language, but you can never say that the language is boring. There’s always something fascinating to learn. And I hope these facts help you keep your interest high! ⠀

To make an adjective/ adverb stronger in their meaning we use So and Such. They have the same meaning as Very ⠀

Only one tricky thing👆 ⠀

So + adjective/ adverb
𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺!�𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰 ⠀

But if you need to use a noun after, you’ll need to use Such ⠀

Such + noun / Such + adjective/adverb + noun ⠀
