Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has become one of the venues of the V Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen!
During the summit, the honorary guest of our university was the Nobel Prize winner in Physiology and Medicine, the legend of modern biology, scientific leader and UNITED24 ambassador Sir Paul Nurse. He gave a lecture for Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Instituteβs students on "Science as a revolution".
In his speech, the professor spoke about:
- stages of science development from antiquity to the present day;
- how science functions and what drives it forward;
- transformations that determine the vector of scientific research today;
- interaction between science and society;
- democratisation of education and its role in the modern world.
He also took part in an open dialogue with our students, answered their questions and shared his advice on how to find your way in science and form the identity of a researcher.
"Science is really interesting. It is a privilege to conduct research and follow your curiosity throughout your life. If you have a passion for science, it will guide you. Without it, nothing will work. It is important to be smart, inventive, but above all, to feel passionate about your work. Scientists discover aspects of the natural world and find solutions that help humanity. And there is always a place for those who choose this path anywhere," said Sir Paul Nurse, Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine (2001).
Participation in global events and meeting scientific luminaries is a motivation for every Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Instituteβs student to set ambitious goals and change the world.
