(The NaUKMA Research Center for Heritage Preservation and Recovery)!
Створення центру ініціювали Кафедра археології НаУКМА і міжнародні партнери - Cornell University Department of City and Regional Planning, the Cornell Institute for Archeology and Material Studies, Roblee Historic Preservation, LCC та Nova Ukraine.
Alisa Demina, Oleksandra Ivanova, Oleh Bilynskyi, Kateryna Chu, Jeffrey Chusid, Andrew Roblee.
Ми висловлюємо глибоку вдячність нашим партнерам - Cornell University Department of City and Regional Planning, the Cornell Institute for Archeology and Material Studies Cornell University , Roblee Historic Preservation, LCC, Nova Ukraine за всебічну підтримку.

A new research platform has begun its work at National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy - the NaUKMA Research Center for Heritage Preservation and Recovery.
The establishment of the centre was initiated by the Department of Archaeology at NaUKMA together with international partners - Cornell University Department of City and Regional Planning, the Cornell Institute for Archeology and Material Studies,Roblee Historic Preservation, LCC International University, and Nova Ukraine. We see the centre as a space where researchers from different disciplines, institutions, and professional backgrounds can come together to support the proper study and preservation of heritage, promote it within communities, and advocate for change in this field.
The centre’s inaugural event was the international symposium “The Role of Universities in the Preservation and Recovery of Ukraine’s Cultural Heritage”, held at NaUKMA on 14–15 May 2026. The symposium brought together specialists in cultural heritage from Ukraine, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
In the following posts, we will share more about the centre itself, its first projects, and the discussions and presentations that took place during the inaugural symposium. For now, we would like to sincerely thank all participants for the engaging and productive discussions over these two days. These conversations allowed the founders of the centre to compare perspectives with colleagues, clarify the needs of the sector, and define priorities for the near future, while giving participants an opportunity to exchange experience and, we hope, begin new academic partnerships.
We would also like to express our deep gratitude to our partners - the Cornell University Department of City and Regional Planning, the Cornell Institute for Archaeology and Material Studies Cornell University, Roblee Historic Preservation, and Nova Ukraine Nova Ukraine for their comprehensive support.
