Known from several sources, one of the main "proto-Polish" tribes - the Vistula, is associated with a peculiar archaeological specificity of the Cracow land in the pre-state period of the early Middle Ages. A characteristic feature of the Cracow land are large mounds, large settlements from 1-5 to 10 hectares and the so-called white pottery.
