Indonesia is famous for its kris. It is such a knife with a wavy blade. These days it is an essential attribute of the national costume. In this case, special attention is given to the external finish. But the classic kris is quite different. Each knife is a work of art. The blade is the subject of some image. You can find all kinds of things here! From oil lamps to intricately chased silver construction helmets. Samples of drawings on fabric with the name and a brief explanation. It can be compared to a song in color. Everywhere its own melody, everywhere its own words. What to a tourist is simply a beautifully painted cloth, to an Indonesian has its own sacred meaning. But the art of batik is not limited to the dress cloth. It has been perfected to perfection. There are quite a few art galleries in Jogja. There are schools where they teach the technique of painting fabrics and creating paintings. That it is a serious art form is evidenced by the professorships of some artists.
