**State Tax University featured in The Christian Science Monitor**

The American publication **The Christian Science Monitor** has published an in-depth story about the State Tax University, the rebuilding of its Main Campus, and the initiative that today brings together Ukrainian and international partners.

From the Battle of Irpin and the destruction of STU’s Main Campus to an international architectural competition and a new vision for the University — the article traces STU’s journey over the past four years. 🇺🇦🤝🇩🇪 The State Tax University and the University of Applied Sciences for Finance of North Rhine-Westphalia have officially extended their international partnership.

In Nordkirchen, Acting Rector of the State Tax University Dmytro Serebryanskyi and Director Claudia Pottgof-Kowol signed a renewed cooperation agreement, continuing a strong partnership that began in 2023.

The signing took place under the patronage of North Rhine-Westphalia Finance Minister Dr. Marcus Optendrenk and with the participation of Elmar Brok, former Member of the European Parliament and long-time supporter of Ukraine’s European integration.

Over the past years, the cooperation has resulted in joint seminars, international educational projects, student support initiatives, professional internships, and academic visits to Germany.

The renewed agreement will further strengthen academic mobility, scientific collaboration, professional exchange, and intercultural dialogue.

🇺🇦 🇬🇧 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 The final day of the STU's team discovery trip to Great Britain was particularly rich and inspiring. It was a time for reflection on all that had been seen and done in the past 5 days and for jointly building plans for the future.

✳️ In the format of a strategic session, representatives from Stantec , Build Forward Ukraine, and State Tax University, Ukraine shared their impressions of British universities we've visited and together shaped a vision for the future of the Main Campus building of STU - a space that we all invision as modern, open, and truly vibrant educational/research hub. The discussions went beyond functional considerations, encompassing the atmosphere, the meaning, and the experience this space will offer for students and the community of Irpin every day.

🇺🇦 On May 1st, as part of an official visit to the United Kingdom, a delegation from State Tax University, Ukraine met with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

🤝 This meeting took place at the Embassy of Ukraine to the UK and was of a particular significance for our University, as it was under the command of Valerii Zaluzhnyi that Irpin was liberated in March 2022. At that time, Irpin became the main outpost in the Battle of Kyiv. Under the leadership and with the direct involvement of Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who was then serving as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the liberation of the city was officially announced on March 28, 2022. In recognition of its resilience and unwavering resistance, Irpin was awarded the honorary distinction “Hero City of Ukraine” by Presidential Decree.

📣 The University’s acting rector, Dmytro Serebrianskyi, also invited the Ambassador to become a guest lecturer for master’s and doctoral students.

💬 “We are grateful to the Ambassador for the meeting and for his openness to dialogue. For our university, this was an important and meaningful conversation”, noted Mr. Serebrianskyi.

⚔️ It is specifically during that period (Feb.-March 2022), the State Tax University suffered all of its infrastructure damages - one of the most severe destruction among educational institutions in Kyiv region - its academic buildings were damaged by shelling, while the Main Campus building sustained damages beyond repair. The university staff and students were also helping local civilians and the Ukrainian military.

🌐 Our next stop during the London Discovery Tour was University of Oxford, where the STU team received an introduction to the university’s structure, governance, and academic processes — significantly different from Ukrainian standards.

Together with our partners at Stantec and Forward Ukraine, we also explored the architectural and functional design of Oxford’s academic buildings, dormitories, and educational infrastructure.

🟢 We had the opportunity to meet with students and university staff (including Ukrainian representatives) and agreed to organize a future meeting between the Oxford Student Union and STU Student Parliament to exchange experience.

⭐ What a day we've had visiting the University of Cambridge and Cambridge Judge Business School... WOW! There's so much to learn from a university with such rich history and traditions!

‼️ University of Cambridge is the third-oldest university in the world, which was founded in 1209 (817 years old). We are very grateful that during our discovery tour with Build Forward Ukraine and Stantec we could visit its campus and learn from its staff. It is incredible to see how both old and modern architecture approaches are combined at their premises.

✅ STU team had a walk through tour as well as couple of meetings and practical sessions with the representatives of the university. Their short presentations provided a rich ground for discussion and future ideas on how we should rebuild our Main Campus building in Irpin, Ukraine. We also hope that these meetings will lay ground for future collaboration between our universities.

🇺🇦 It was our pleasure to also meet Ukrainians at Cambridge - who are working both as professors of Ukrainian language, history and culture, subject, which are very popular nowadays among students, as well as department heads. Our team had also met with Dr Eolene Boyd, Cambridge Institute of Public Health professor and discussed ways STU can partner with the university in the area mental health support and implementation of supervision programs for practicing phycologists, especially during the war times.

⭕ Three more days to go in London, and we are looking forward for more insightful meetings and conversations with our partners Wednesday through Friday this week...

🇺🇦 🇺🇸 On April 27th, the first day of STU's team visit to London, we had signed an official "Partnership Memorandum" about close collaboration on "Rebuild STU" project between State Tax University, Ukraine (STU) and Build Forward Ukraine (BFU). The memorandum was signed by Dmytro Serebrianskyi, Acting Rector of STU and David Wessel, AIC, FAPT - BFU's President.

This memorandum is a frame document that officially confirms the long term partnership with our American friends, who's been helping STU for many years now to make our Main Campus Rebuilding project a reality. It focuses on collaboration in the areas of architectural renewal, capacity building and community influence for STU's various projects. One of the most important aspects is also BFU's assistance in the process of collaboration and search for donors and financial partners for "Rebuild STU" project.

✈️ STU's top management team, as well as other organizations' representatives, who are helping us with the project on Main Campus rebuilding, have traveled to London today for a 1 week learning/experience sharing trip.

During this trip State Tax University, Ukraine team will attend University of Oxford, The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University of Cambridge and the offices of Stantec - the winner of STU International architectural competition - our architectural partner in the "Rebuild STU" project.
