Sights of Lviv

High Castle Park
The High Castle Park is one of the most favorite places not only for tourists, but also for Lviv residents. It is located on Castle Hill. From here you have a breathtaking view of the city. And if you go here early in the morning, you can enjoy not only the panorama, but also the silence, which will add romance. The first mentions of Lviv in the annals of 1256 are connected with the Castle Hill. And the park was built in the 19th century on the site of the High Castle fortress, which was a defensive fortress and weapons storage.

Kryivka (Kryivka)
Kryivka is a unique establishment, which is rather famous not only for its cuisine (although it is good here), but for its atmosphere. "Kryivka" is a shelter for soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Here you will see a collection of military equipment, German gr***des, gr***de launchers, radio stations and cipher machines. And among all this military wealth, you can try “Half a meter of sausage”, blood, kulesh, herring and, of course, drink vodka, tincture and kvass. Finding Kryivka is not so easy - there is no sign. But we will give you a hint - it is located directly opposite the City Hall. There you will see a residential building and a basement with an inconspicuous door. Knock, the military guard will open for you and ask for the password. And the password sounds: “Glory to Ukraine!”, after the guard answers: “Glory to the heroes!”, they will pour you a tincture and let you go further along the narrow corridors of the restaurant. Treat everything with humor, they love tourists here, they always tasty food and entertainment.

Opera theatre
The best option of what to visit in Lviv for fans of opera and theatrical arts. The interiors surprise with their rich appearance: numerous sculptures, paintings by famous masters, gilded decor. It took several years to build a building in the Renaissance, Baroque and pseudo-Renaissance styles. Not far from the opera stands the statue of Glory.

House of scientists
Date of construction - 19th century. The building is made in the style of castle architecture. A hundred years ago it housed a casino. Later, the house was handed over to scientists. Now it is also the property of an educational institution. One of the reasons for the popularity of this attraction is that masquerade balls are often held here.

Chapel of the Boim Family
On the eastern edge of Cathedral square there’s a 17th-century Mannerist chapel that has no equivalent in either Ukraine or the rest of Europe.
The facade is completely taken over by sandstone carvings, that may take a while to decipher.
On the lower tier are statues of the apostles St Peter and St Paul, in the middle are cartouches with Latin inscriptions, while on the densely packed third tier are scenes from the Passion.
You can make out the Castigation, Christ Carrying the Cross and the Crucifixion.
There’s also loads of decoration crammed into the interior in the form of intricate stuccowork.

Market Square
It seems like all streets in the Old Town converge on this historic and hectic central square surrounding Lviv’s Town Hall.

Market Square heaves with locals, tourists and street performers and the amount to see on this one plaza is almost overwhelming: There are glorious townhouses on each side of the square, many from the Renaissance (especially on the East side), and some with later Rococo designs.

Most contain bars, restaurants and cafes where you can watch the throngs, but there are numerous museums and tasteful artisan shops.

Rynok Square
If you don't know where to go in Lviv, head to this medieval square. Literally every building located here is an architectural and cultural monument. In previous years, the territory served as a bazaar for foreign and Ukrainian merchants. Folk festivals were organized here and the most responsible decisions were made.
