[CLOSING DAY]

Today is the closing day of 2021 school year! Everyone is busy: almost all boarding students are going home, parents meetings...we have to say goodbye until January!

Eventhoug it's sometimes difficult to reach all of our goals, we are proud of how we are learning and growing together.

Thanks all for your support and thanks our students, teachers, cleaners, drivers, administration workers, matrons and the rest of the staff for their great work during this 2021.

¡Hoy es el día de cierre del año escolar 2021! Estamos todos muy ocupados: casi todos los estudiantes internos se van a casa, reuniones de padres... ¡tenemos que despedirnos hasta enero!

Aunque a veces es difícil alcanzar todas nuestras metas, estamos orgullosos de cómo estamos aprendiendo y creciendo juntos y juntas.

Gracias a todos por vuestro apoyo y muchas gracias a nuestros alumnos y alumnas, al profesorado, limpiadores, conductores, trabajadoras de la administración, matronas y al resto del personal por su gran labor durante este 2021.

[INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD, 11 October]

The International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated annually on October 11 to empower and amplify the voices of girls around the world.

Let's focus this 2021 in adolescents girls. Adolescent girls have the right to a safe, educated, and healthy life, not only during these critical formative years, but also as they mature into women. If effectively supported during the adolescent years, girls have the potential to change the world – both as the empowered girls of today and as tomorrow’s workers, mothers, entrepreneurs, mentors, household heads, and political leaders.
Nearly 1 in 4 girls aged 15–19 globally are not in education, employment or training, compared to 1 in 10 boys.

As an institution that works to ensure equal access to education, we fight to reduce the gap and to give the opportunity to every child to get their right to go to school, but we need also to ensure their future in other ways.

[INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE]

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. In 2021 UN has chosen an important theme: "Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world".

The pandemic (and every collective problem as natural disasters, diseases or other kind of crisis) hit the underprivileged and vulnerable groups the hardest.

Blue Sky, as an educational institution, wants to motivate our students but also every person around us to participate in transformation: to try to change our world into one that is more equal, inclusive, equitable and more sustainable.

We can start asking ourselves if there is anything that we can do to improve the conditions of someone around us or of our environment.

[RAFIKI PROJECTS INFIRMARY]

Rafiki Projects for Development is finishing an infirmary. This will mean a lot to us because we will be able to count on a nurse to check our students and staff and to assist in case of emergency. We have around 900 students so it's important to have this kind of assistance. The nurse will also design and impart health workshops at school.

The infirmary in meant to assist people that don't have other kind of sanitary assistance (vulnerable people from our community). So we are very happy to count on them in our area.

If you can and want to help you can come as an on-site volunteer (if you are qualified) because the idea is also to share knowledge between the local workers and volunteers. You can also join their Teaming group! It's only 1€ per month, 12€ per year!

[ENFERMERÍA DE RAFIKI PROJECTS]

Rafiki Projects for Development está terminando su enfermería. Esto significará mucho para nuestra escuela ya que podremos contar con personal sanitario para atender a nuestros estudiantes y trabajadores y ayudar en caso de emergencia. ¡Tenemos alrededor de 900 estudiantes por lo que es importante contar con este tipo de asistencia! El personal sanitario también diseñará e impartirá talleres de salud en Blue Sky.

La enfermería está destinada a atender a personas que no cuentan con otro tipo de asistencia sanitaria (personas vulnerables de nuestra comunidad). ¡Por eso estamos muy contentos de contar con ellos en nuestra zona!

Si quieres y puedes ayudar, puedes venir como voluntario (si estás cualificado) ya que el objetivo también es compartir conocimientos entre los trabajadores locales y los voluntarios.

[INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE]

At present, less than 30 per cent of researchers worldwide are women. Globally, female students’ enrolment is particularly low in ICT (3 per cent), natural science, mathematics and statistics (5 per cent) and in engineering and construction (8 per cent).

Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are steering girls and women away from science related fields.

Our goal is to provide equal opportunities and freedom of choice for girls and boys!

[DÍA INTERNACIONAL DE LA MUJER Y LA NIÑA EN LA CIENCIA]

En la actualidad, menos del 30 por ciento de los investigadores en todo el mundo son mujeres. A nivel mundial, la matrícula de mujeres es especialmente baja en TIC (3%), ciencias naturales, matemáticas y estadística (5%) y en ingeniería y construcción (8%).

📣Fundraising campaign closed📣

Two days ago we put an end to our campaign to set up an infirmary service in Nambala, Tanzania, and we're very happy to announce that thanks to all your support and donations we've raised 11.103€! Since our event was part of Mediolanum's Solidarity Week, they will double the first 5.000€, which means we'll have 16.103€ destined entirely for the proyect!

The plan is to start working on it this upcoming February, so stay tuned!

📣 Campaña de recaudación de fondos cerrada 📣

El día 20 pusimos fin a nuestra campaña para implementar un sistema de enfermería en Nambala, Tanzania, y estamos muy contentos de poder anunciar que, gracias a vuestro apoyo y donaciones se han recaudado...¡11.103€! El banco Mediolanum, como parte de su Semana Solidaria, duplicará los primeros 5.000€, ¡por lo que contamos con 16.103€ que serán destiandos integramente al proyecto!

📣¡NUEVA CAMPAÑA DE RECAUDACIÓN!📣

¡Volvemos a pedir vuestro apoyo para poder comenzar un nuevo reto!

Queremos poner en marcha una enfermería (construcción, material sanitario y trabajadores) para atender a los niños y niñas de Blue Sky y también a la gente mayor sin recursos de la zona. Con ello, esperamos prevenir muchas enfermedades que surgen por falta de recursos y mejorar la salud de las personas que más lo necesitan.

Esta campaña está asociada a la "Semana Solidaria" de la Fundación Banco Mediolanum: cada aportación será doblada por esta entidad (con un límite total de 5000€). ¡Pero necesitamos conseguir eso y mucho más! Iremos contandoos todos los detalles los próximos días.

¡Os animamos a dar apoyo a esta iniciativa ya que tendrá una gran repercusión sobre las personas más vulnerables de nuestra zona!

Once again, we are asking for your support to start a new project. We want to set up an infirmary service in Blue Sky to attend the girls and boys of the school as well as the elders with no resources in our area. We are hoping to thereby prevent many diseases that arise due to a lack of resources and to improve the health of those who need it the most.

This campaign is linked to the "Solidarity Week" organised by Mediolanum Bank Foundation; meaning that each contribution will be doubled by this entity (with a limit of €5,000).
