At 16, after being forced to leave school due to pregnancy, Zuhura found hope at Tumaini School, where she completed four years of study in two, regained her confidence, and now, as she sits for her final exams in 2025, dreams of pursuing tourism and cultural studies, embodying Tumaini’s mission to turn stigma into opportunity.

📚 Education is a right for everyone, and every learner deserves the chance to reach their potential.
Until 2021, young mothers in Tanzania were not permitted to return to school, which made it difficult for many to continue their education after giving birth. While the policy has changed, social barriers and stigma still exist in some communities.
Tumaini Open School is helping to bridge this gap by creating a supportive and inclusive environment where young mothers can continue their studies, gain new skills, and build confidence for the future 🎓
