ACCOUNTS CLERK
Donnybrook Secondary School – Kakonko, Kigoma

📌 POSITION: ACCOUNTS CLERK
1. Job Purpose
To support the School Bursar and Finance Office in the ex*****on of day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of financial transactions.
📌 KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Accounts Clerk will be responsible for:
A. Daily Accounting Operations
• Recording daily financial transactions in the cashbook and accounting system.
• Preparing and issuing receipts for all school collections (fees, uniforms, deposits, etc.)
• Maintaining proper documentation and filing of receipts, vouchers, and payment records.
• Assisting in reconciling cash, bank, and mobile money transactions.
B. Accounts Payables & Receivables
• Preparing payment vouchers for suppliers, staff claims, and petty cash.
• Following up on outstanding school fees and keeping updated debtor schedules.
• Preparing student fee statements and assisting in issuing termly invoices.
C. Financial Reporting Support
• Assisting in generating weekly and monthly financial summaries.
• Maintaining updated registers (fees registers, suppliers register, petty cash register).
• Supporting the Bursar in budget monitoring and expenditure control.
D. Compliance & Internal Controls
• Ensuring all transactions follow the school’s financial policies and procedures.
• Supporting internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Handling sensitive financial information with confidentiality and integrity.
📌 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in accounting or clerical finance work (school experience is an added advantage).
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and (bonus) accounting software.
• Strong numerical accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision and meet deadlines.
