The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, via the HEET National Project Implementation Unit, has welcomed a mission from the World Bank, which is in the country to participate in mid-term review meetings taking place from 21st October to 7th November, 2024.

The primary objective of the World Bank mission is to assess the progress of project implementation at the Higher Learning institutions that benefit from the HEET project. Other objectives include evaluating whether the project is on track to achieve its goals, assessing compliance, reviewing implementation and discussing proposals for additional financing under the HEET project.

On 22nd October, 2024, the World Bank mission met with representatives from the HEET project beneficiaries at Gold Crest in Mwanza. During her opening remarks, team leader Ms. Roberta Malle Bassett, Global Lead for Tertiary Education and Task Team Leader, applauded the National Project Implementation Unit team for organizing the meeting, highlighting its importance in evaluating the project's successes and challenges. She emphasized the need for in-depth working sessions to ensure the project meets its objectives.

In introducing the guest of honor, Dr. Kennedy Hosea, the National HEET Project Coordinator stated that it is time to assess our accomplishments for the World Bank delegates to review.

Prof. John Lupala, the HEET Project Coordinator from Ardhi University, attended the meeting alongside other members of the PIU ARU team. During his presentation, Dr. Gibson Munisi, the ARU HEET Deputy Project Coordinator, presented the milestones reached at both the Dar es Salaam and Mwanza campuses. He reported that the Dar es Salaam campus has achieved 70% progress, with construction expected to be completed by February 2025.

Chuo Kikuu Ardhi, kupitia mradi wa Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) unaosimamiwa na Wizara ya Elimu, Sayansi na Teknolojia, kimefikia hatua za mwisho za maandalizi ya ujenzi wa Kampasi mpya mkoani Mwanza. Eneo la ujenzi lina ukubwa wa ekari 378 na linatarajiwa kujengwa majengo muhimu matano: mabweni ya wanafunzi, kituo cha afya, nyumba za watumishi, madarasa, na maabara.

Katika ziara hiyo, iliyofanyika tarehe 21 Oktoba 2024, watumishi wa Chuo Kikuu Ardhi walipata fursa ya kutathmini mazingira na kuona eneo ambalo ujenzi utaanza hivi karibuni. Ujenzi huo unatarajiwa kukamilika ndani ya mwaka mmoja na nusu.

Chuo Kikuu Ardhi ni miongoni mwa taasisi za elimu ya juu zinazofaidi mradi wa HEET, ambao umepangiwa bajeti ya shilingi bilioni 16 kwa ajili ya kufanikisha ujenzi huo na miradi mingine inayolenga kuboresha elimu ya juu na kukuza uchumi nchini.
