Someone posted this video to ourr Ocean Church Women’s ministry whatsapp group… and here below is a summary of what I shared to the discussion…

I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion, and although I know the topic may have already passed its due date, I still felt led to share something…🤷🏽‍♀️

As a Christian, and also through my line of work, I’ve learned to look at people from a deeper perspective. Many times, what we see outwardly is only a reflection of inward wounds.

Some people grew up body-shamed, rejected, traumatised, neglected, or exposed to unhealthy environments. Others are heavily influenced by social media, celebrity culture, comparison, and the pressure to constantly “fix” themselves to feel accepted or enough.

Even the rise of BBL culture, filters, cosmetic procedures, fake appearances, and the obsession with validation online… all of it is coming from somewhere.

That’s why I try not to judge people harshly. Instead, I ask:
“What happened?”
“What are they carrying internally?”

Yes, how we dress and present ourselves matters because appearance communicates before words do. Scripture encourages wisdom, modesty, and dignity (1 Timothy 2:9). But at the same time, God still looks deeper than outward appearance:
“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7.

After attending the Blueprint session, I came to better understand the heart behind the our oceanchurch… as it welcomes everyone exactly as they are because transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit, not human condemnation.

Jesus welcomed people before He transformed them.
Church is not a museum for perfect people. It is a place where broken people encounter healing, truth, and God’s presence.

So yes, let’s encourage wisdom and honour in how we present ourselves but with grace, compassion, and understanding, not pride or judgment.

At the end of the day, people may walk into church one way, but by the power of the Holy Spirit, they won’t leave the same forever 🙏🏾

Mums, don’t put yourselves last.

We spend so much time pouring into everyone else that we forget we need care too. We keep going, working nonstop, showing up for everyone… until we are completely drained.

But the truth is, burnout changes us.
When we are exhausted emotionally, mentally, and physically, we don’t give our loved ones the best of ourselves … we end up giving them what’s left of us. The frustration, the impatience, the overwhelm. And over time, that can affect the relationships we value most.

Taking care of yourself is necessary and don’t feel bad to rest…and ask for help when needed…Because if you never pour back into yourself, eventually you’ll have very little left to give.

A healthy, peaceful, emotionally filled mother creates a healthier and more peaceful home.

Choose yourself too, mama. You matter.

We celebrate you…. Daily… not just on ❤️

For all the seen and unseen sacrifices.
For the love you continue to give.
For the strength you carry quietly every single day.

Thank you for all that you have done… and continue to do.
Because without you, this world would not be what it is today.

But somewhere along the way, many mothers forgot something important:
Themselves.

The dreams that were paused.
The ambitions placed aside.
The “me time” that slowly disappeared.
The constant pouring into everyone else while silently running empty.
And today, we want to remind you of this:
You matter too.

Your wellbeing matters.
Physically…Mentally…Emotionally…Spiritually...Financially.

When a woman is drained, overwhelmed, disconnected from herself… eventually everyone around her feels it too.

And that is why spaces like this matter.

A MOTHER’S STRENGTH

A mother is often the strongest person in a family… and even within a community.

She carries so much quietly.
She stays strong even when she is exhausted.
She keeps showing up even when she is falling apart inside.
She gives, nurtures, protects, comforts, and holds everyone together—often while carrying her own silent battles.

That kind of strength can carry the world.

And yet, the saddest part is… much of it goes unseen.
