Society for Women Environmental Entrepreneurs and Traders (SWEET) Fair 2015
Introduction:
The challenges of the future- such as climate change (CC), resource scarcity, population growth, extreme poverty, food security, environmental degradation etc., need innovative , Outcome Based Education (OBE)/Learning and Problem-Solving Solution (PSS). The Society for Women Empowerment Education and Training (SWEET) Foundation and the Women Environment and Climate Action Network (WECAN) Africa Initiative in collaboration with local/national and international organizations are committed to face these challenges and has declared Sustainable Development to be its overall guiding principles, for the Post 2015 Development Agenda.
SWEET Foundation and WECAN Africa Initiative uses the platform of the Society for Women Environmental Entrepreneurs and Traders (SWEET) Fair to offer women from countries across Africa and other developing countries, a space to make visible the economic, cultural, social and environmental inputs that women entrepreneurs bring to their countries and the world through their “green enterprises”. We also promote ethical business and fair trade to assure self reliant and interdependent communities by providing a progressive an ecological business model.
The first SWEET Fair was organized as part of the IUCN, the World Conservation Congress, the biggest and most diverse conservation-related event in the world. Its objective was to improve the way we manage our environment for human, social and economic development. The central theme of the IV World Conservation Congress (5-14 October, 2008, in Barcelona, Spain), was, “A Diverse and Sustainable World”, which highlighted the linkages between natural, social, cultural and economic diversity.
The second SWEET Fair was organised as a side event of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Convention of Parties (COP) 15 in Copenhagen Denmark, December 2009 in collaboration with the Copenhagen City Council, at the Greenlandic House, Copenhagen, Denmark. The objective of the fair was to make visible, the economic, cultural, social and environmental inputs that women entrepreneurs from countries across Africa and other developing countries bring through green, social and environmental entrepreneurship.
We are planning the third SWEET Fair to take place as a side event in Paris-France at the UNFCCC, COP 21 November/December 2015.
SWEET Foundation, Women in Leadership International (WILI) Africa and WECAN Africa Initiative wishes to use the platform offered by the Women Deliver Conference 2016 in Copenhagen Denmark, to organize the fourth Society for Women Environmental Entrepreneurs and Traders (SWEET) Fair. The SWEET Fair is therefore, an innovative, outcome base and unique global opportunity, because it will make visible the economic, social, cultural and environmental inputs that women entrepreneurs bring to their countries and the world through their “green enterprises” (i.e., environmentally friendly).
The SWEET Fair has also allowed the formation a worldwide network of women green entrepreneurs (SWEETNET), which catalyzes collaborations among different sectors, associations, regions and countries.
The SWEET Fair aims to: facilitate and strengthen women’s productive enterprises that produce or provide services that are environmentally friendly; and showcase women’s professional and business activities that go beyond regional borders and contribute to environmental conservation and the alleviation of poverty.

At SWEET Africa Foundation we empower, educate and train women and other MVGs to be champions of sustainable development in different spheres of life. We provide a platform, where new and innovative ideas , knowledge, skills and experience, meets a fertile ground for research, education, training and development. The Objectives of SWEET Africa Foundation:

Knowledge: To assist women as groups or individuals, gain a variety of experience in and acquire basic understanding for self reliance, empowerment, peace building and sustainable development
Attitudes: To assist women as groups or individuals, acquire set of values and feelings of concern for participating and developing projects and programmes for self reliance, empowerment and peace building.
Skills: To assist women as groups or individuals, acquire the skills necessary for self reliance, empowerment, peace building and sustainable development.
Participation: To assist women as groups or individuals with an opportunity to be actively and responsibly involve in self reliance, empowerment, peace building and sustainable development projects and programmes.
The Core Areas of SWEET Africa Foundation:
Training, Education and Capacity Building (TEC): Promoting the development of curricula derived from best practices of ecological and sustainable livelihoods/living.
Model Ecological Communities and Training Centre (MET): Model ecological communities provide holistic designs for urban, rural and peri-urban communities for sustainable livelihoods and living environment. Training centres provide sustainability education, training, learning and research.
Water –Food-Energy Nexus (WFE): We promote women and African communities that are self -reliant , independent and enjoy an abundance of Water, Food and Energy for total environmental , social, cultural and economic security of their families and communities
Natural Resource Management (NRM): We promote water, food and energy autonomy, reforestation, regeneration /restoration of natural resources, healthy soils and mutually beneficial relationship between humans and their environment.
Cultural Heritage Promotion (CHP): Africa is the cradle of mankind and civilization. Through the Salama PanAfrican Institute for Culture and Education (SPICE), we strive to promote profoundly the diversity of tangible and intangible assets of Africa’s rich cultural heritage.
Healing, Reconciliation and Conflict Management (HRC): The basis of SWEET Africa Foundation values lies is the very essence of the success of women led authentic, healing, reconciliation and conflict management programs/projects at all levels in their communities and countries.
Advocacy Policy and Practice (APP): We promote women led policies and practices that will make for a more just, sustainable and equitable society for all.
Green Entrepreneurship, Ethical Business and Fair Trade (GET): Under the GET Program and the SWEET Fair, we seek to assure self-reliant and women led interdependent communities by providing a progressive ecological business model through green entrepreneurship, ethical business and fair trade.
SWEET Africa Foundation: How did it begin?
While serving as the President for Women International Coalition Organisation (WICO) Africa in 2005, based in her home country Cameroon, Ms Rosemary Olive Mbone Enie, a Geologist and Gender Ambassador for the Gender and Water Alliance (GWA) the Netherlands, initiated and introduced the Society of Women Empowerment and Training (SWEET) as a Project of WICO Africa. In December 2007 she was invited to speak at the International Day for People with Disability at Cambridge City Council UK, to share the work she has been doing with Women and other Most Vulnerable Groups (MVGs). After her presentation there was an interest by some participants for her to establish the SWEET Foundation in the UK. On her return to Africa she established the SWEET Africa Foundation in Ghana 2008, Liberia 2009 and Tanzania 2011 as a project of the Ikra Education Training Centre (IETC) Tanzania where she now serves as the Executive Director for IETC Tanzania.
Ms Rosemary Olive Mbone Enie has 24 years experience working in the African Water, Sanitation Hygiene, Environmental Education and Management Sectors. She also has 19 years experience in Gender and Development and 15 years experience following the International Climate Change Negotiations. She has initiated several community, national and Pan African projects and programs. Ms Mbone Enie sits as an International Advisory Board Member for the Women Earth Alliance (WEA) USA, Women Earth and Climate Caucus (WECC) /Women Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) International and Climate Change Network (CCN) Nigeria just to name a few.
In April 2015 she was appointed the President for Women in Leadership International (WILI) Africa. Rosemary is a member of several local, national and international organisations and also serves as the Childhood Ambassador for the Global Childhood Decade (2012- 2022). She has travelled widely across Africa, Europe, North America and Asia and has presented and published over 40 policy and research papers covering the fields of Geology, Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, Environmental Education/Management, Tourism, Climate Change etc.

KISONGO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (KICODA)
An Initiative of the Ikra Education Training Centre (IETC) Tanzania.
The purpose and objectives for which the association is established are as follows but not limited to the following;
1. Carry out vigorous development activities which include the construction of social infrastructure such as markets, schools, clinics, water points, sanitation facilities etc within Kisongo and its environs.
2. Build peace and mitigate conflicts amongst the people and residents of Kisongo and its environs as well as promote community development programmes with emphasis on women/youths/children empowerment and gender advocacy.
3. Establish a community nursery, primary, vocational, technical and professional education training centres and seeks financial and technical support for the effective and efficient management of these centres and establishes collaboration and/or partnership with other associations, agencies, institutions etc. Sustainable implementation of beneficial humanitarian relief and sustainable livelihoods and development programmes.
4. Construct, rehabilitate and reconstruct damage infrastructure within Kisongo and its environs and provide civic education programmes aimed at encouraging the people to get actively involved in the development of their community.
5. Engage in Agricultural and Agribusiness programmes which includes the provision of agricultural imputs and implements to farmers within the Kisongo area as well as assisting them to identify suitable markets for the produce and also seek to identify microcredit assistance for farmers and entrepreneurs.
6. Mobile resources to support the aforementioned aims and objectives and do any other thing (s) legal directly or indirectly in the fulfillment of the purpose and intent of the association including ownership of land and building as well as acquire, exchange, mortgage, deal in trust, pledge, rent, lease property, real, personal and mixed as may be necessary or convenient for the purpose of the association
7. Promote income generation projects of the members and other members of the community for self reliance and sustainable livelihoods development.
8. Engage in any lawful activities for which a Community Development Association may be permitted to carry on under the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.

COMMONWEALTH TEACHERS COLLEGE (CTC)- CHALINZE, TANZANIA
ABOUT COMMONWEALTH TEACHERS COLLEGE (CTC):
The Commonwealth Teachers College (CTC) is a private, non religious college based in Chalinze, Coastal Region of Tanzania. The college deals with the training of youths to become teachers in pre and primary English Medium Schools in Tanzania and East Africa.
CTC offers Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) during the period of 18 months. To fulfill the educational policy, the college seeks to establish the Commonwealth Nursery and Primary School as demonstration centre for the trainee teachers to practice. Both the teachers college and the nursery and primary school shall be located under one premises for better coordination.
CTC shall also provide boarding services for distant students and transportation for day scholars around the town. We hope to commerce operation by January 2015.
ABOUT THE COURSE:
CTC provides adequate training for the young Tanzanians who wish to become teachers for Nursery and Primary Schools through the ECDE Course. We offer Certificate, Diploma and other qualifications.
QUAIFICATIONS:
Form IV MAX 33 Points or Form VI Leavers.
