Student’s daily - Favorite Course in IMBA by Nadya 💫

Hello, my name is Nadya. I’d like to share my experience rejoining one of IMBA’s classes, Organization Theory and Management ☺️ I actually took this class in my second semester, but in my fourth semester I joined the class again several times even without officially registering.

At first, I only wanted to fill my free time, but since I enjoy these topics, I found the class interesting to attend again. My previous experience in organizations and work also made the material feel very relatable🌿

In this class, I learned about organizational structure, communication, decision-making, teamwork, and how organizations can operate effectively. We also discussed several organizational theories that help us understand how individuals and teams work together as a system. I find this material very useful because it can be applied both in the workplace and in everyday organizational life. The lecturer was also very interactive and created a relaxed classroom atmosphere, which made discussions more enjoyable. Rejoining the class also gave me the chance to meet new people from different batches.

Overall, it was a fun and valuable experience. Even though I joined casually, I still gained new knowledge from other perspectives and connections ✨

🇮🇩Halo, nama saya Nadya. Saya ingin berbagi pengalaman mengikuti kembali salah satu kelas di IMBA, yaitu Organization Theory and Management. Sebenarnya saya sudah pernah mengambil kelas ini di semester 2, tetapi di semester 4 saya beberapa kali ikut kelasnya lagi walaupun tidak mendaftar secara resmi. Awalnya saya hanya ingin mengisi waktu luang, tetapi karena saya memang menyukai topik ini, saya merasa kelasnya tetap menarik untuk diikuti lagi. Pengalaman saya di organisasi dan dunia kerja juga membuat materi yang dibahas terasa sangat relate. ✨

Di kelas ini, saya belajar tentang struktur organisasi, komunikasi, pengambilan keputusan, kerja sama tim, dan bagaimana sebuah organisasi dapat berjalan dengan efektif. Kami juga membahas beberapa teori organisasi yang membantu memahami bagaimana individu dan tim bekerja dalam satu sistem. Menurut saya, materi seperti ini sangat berguna karena bisa diterapkan baik di dunia kerja maupun kehidupan organisasi sehari-hari. Dosen di kelas ini juga sangat interaktif dan menciptakan suasana belajar yang santai, sehingga diskusi terasa lebih menyenangkan. Selain itu, mengikuti kelas ini lagi juga memberi saya kesempatan untuk bertemu dan mengenal teman-teman baru dari angkatan yang berbeda.

Secara keseluruhan, pengalaman mengikuti kelas ini kembali sangat menyenangkan dan bermanfaat bagi saya. Walaupun awalnya hanya untuk mengisi waktu luang, saya tetap mendapatkan ilmu dari sudut pandang dan relasi baru 🌟

James 的交換日記｜長篇系列－雙聯透視鏡 5/6

MBS 在下學期通常會安排一次 field trip。
這對我來說是一個很特別的學習經驗，因為它不是只在課堂上談理論，而是真的有機會走進現場，看供應鏈怎麼運作。

我們 Supply Chain Management 這次參訪的地點，是位於法國 Nîmes 附近的德國連鎖超市 LIDL 物流中心。
由於裡面不能拍照，所以沒辦法分享內部畫面，不過我還是想用文字記錄幾個讓我印象很深的地方。

1｜科技的應用比想像中更成熟

物流中心裡有很多自動化設備，目的都很明確：提高效率、減少錯誤、讓流程更順暢。
其中我覺得最特別的是 AI 耳機系統。

員工在揀貨時，AI 會直接透過耳機告知路線、位置和操作指示，幫助他們更快完成任務。
這種感覺很有趣，因為它不是那種很遙遠的「未來科技」，而是已經被放進日常流程裡，真正影響工作效率的工具。

2｜永續不是口號，而是流程設計的一部分

另一個讓我印象深刻的地方，是他們對 defective 商品 的處理方式。
物流中心裡設有專門的回收箱，這些有瑕疵或損壞的商品會被集中起來，再由第三方公司固定每兩天以噸為單位收購處理。

我覺得這個設計很務實。
它不只是處理廢棄品，也是一種制度安排，避免員工因為個人因素故意損毀商品，讓整個流程更透明、也更可控。

3｜讓我最震撼的，其實是「人」

這個物流中心的主管，是 MBS 的學長，今年才 25 歲，只比我大一歲。
老實說，這點真的讓我很震撼，也很佩服。

因為他所管理的，不是一個小型倉庫，而是一個要支援 周邊 62 間超市 的物流中心。
這讓我很直接地感受到：年紀不一定等於能力，真正重要的是你有沒有準備好承擔責任。

整體來說，這次 field trip 最特別的地方，在於它讓我把課本上的概念，真的對照到第一線的實務場景。
從自動化、流程設計，到永續和管理，很多原本在課堂中比較抽象的內容，都突然變得很具體。

而我也很感謝自己在 IMBA 所學的內容，因為正是那些跨領域的訓練，讓我在參訪現場更容易理解這些制度背後的邏輯，而不只是「看過」而已。

MBS usually organizes a field trip during the second semester.
For me, this was a very special experience, because it was not just about learning theories in class—it was a chance to step into the real world and see how supply chain operations actually work.

This time, our Supply Chain Management group visited the LIDL distribution center near Nîmes, operated by the German supermarket chain. Since photography was not allowed inside, I cannot share any internal pictures, but I can still describe a few things that stood out to me.

1｜Technology is more embedded than I expected

One of the most impressive things was how advanced the use of technology was inside the distribution center. There were many automated systems designed to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and keep the workflow moving smoothly.

What stood out most to me was the AI headset system.
While employees were picking items, the AI guided them through the headset by giving instructions on routes and item locations. It was striking because it did not feel like some distant “future technology.” It was already part of everyday operations, directly supporting productivity on the ground.

2｜Sustainability is built into the process

Another detail that left a strong impression on me was how they handled defective products. There were designated collection bins for damaged or defective items, and these products were gathered into centralized containers. A third-party company then collected them every two days, with the volume measured by the ton.

What I found especially interesting was that this system was not only about waste handling or sustainability. It was also designed to reduce the risk of employees intentionally damaging products. In other words, sustainability here was not just a slogan—it was part of a broader process design that also supported transparency and control.

3｜What surprised me most was actually the manager

What shocked me the most was the age of the site manager.
He is actually an MBS alumnus, and this year he is only 25 years old—just one year older than I am.

Honestly, I really admire that.
This is not a small warehouse. It is a distribution center that supports 62 surrounding supermarkets. Seeing someone so young take responsibility for an operation of that scale was genuinely impressive, and it reminded me that leadership is not only about age, but also about preparation and capability.

Overall, what made this field trip special was the chance to connect what I had learned in class with real examples on the front line. Concepts like automation, operational design, sustainability, and management all became much more concrete once I saw them in practice.

I am also thankful for what I have learned in IMBA, because that interdisciplinary background helped me understand the logic behind what I was seeing, rather than just observing it on the surface.

For me, that is one of the most meaningful parts of studying abroad and pursuing a dual-degree path: sometimes the textbook opens the door, but it is the real-world experience that makes everything click.
