2026 AIESEP World Congress

🌏【June 16, 2026|2026 AIESEP World Congress|An Inspiring First Day of Academic Exchange】
The 2026 AIESEP World Congress officially commenced at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), marking the beginning of a dynamic and enriching academic program.
The first day featured five symposium sessions, one keynote speech, and seventeen oral presentation sessions. Scholars, researchers, and educational practitioners from around the world gathered to engage in meaningful discussions on physical education, sport pedagogy, teacher education, health promotion, and cross-cultural research. These exchanges embodied the spirit of international collaboration and knowledge sharing that lies at the heart of the Congress.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Hsiao-Lan Chen of NTNU’s Department of Education, who explored the concept of Physical Literacy and its implications for the future of education. Professor Jen emphasized that the purpose of physical education extends beyond developing sport-specific skills; it should also foster students’ motivation, confidence, and competence to participate in physical activity throughout their lives.
Looking ahead, Professor Chen suggested that physical education should gradually shift its focus from “what sports to teach” to “what kind of person to cultivate.” Through student-centered learning experiences, educators can empower students to become lifelong learners who continue to grow, adapt, and engage actively with the world around them.
Moving from traditional physical education toward a broader vision of physical literacy requires educators to transcend existing frameworks and respond to emerging societal needs. This transformation represents one of the most significant challenges—and opportunities—in contemporary education.
As the Congress continues over the coming days, we look forward to further cross-cultural dialogue, academic collaboration, and inspiring conversations that will help shape the future of physical education and sport education worldwide.
