Martial arts training develops coordination, good posture, body awareness, fitness, and other physical skills. It also helps children to become more focused, confident, patient, and mindful. From learning about the importance of Horse Stance to how to be a team player, Wing Chun builds skills for life!

What makes Chinese martial arts different than yoga, dance, or other movement arts? 🤔
💡 In short, Chinese martial arts is designed to deal with pressure from an opponent. All the forms, training exercises, and drills teach you how to deal with this pressure in an efficient way.
🔑 By maintaining connection with our opponent or training partner, we are able to receive tactile information about what they are going to do next and to have more control over the interaction.

One of the great things about martial arts training is working with a partner. Training partners help us test our ability to handle live pressure. They also make learning highly interactive and fun. Thanks to all who came to our recent "Body Awareness through Kung Fu" workshop, for trying something new, and sharing a lot of learning, practice time, and laughs 😁

Although people tend to think of Chinese martial arts as a system for fighting, a health practice, or a cultural tradition, it is those things and more.
Chinese martial arts are based on similar principles taught by other body wisdom traditions. Alignment, balance, biomechanics, ergonomics, & efficiency are a few.
In learning martial arts you begin to meet yourself and learn about yourself. It integrates mind, body, and spirit. This is a tool that combines a personal practice, which can be meditative and slow, and partner practice, with a complete body workout.
It takes patience & dedication, but anyone can do it.
