Why is online shopping in Taiwan the best? Because Taiwan has one of the highest densities of convenience stores in the world—with a 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, or OK Mart on practically every single corner, all of Taiwan is basically one giant 24/7 pickup station!

💬 How it works: Walk up to the cashier, confidently say you are there for a pickup(你好，我要取貨 ), and tell them the last 3 digits of your phone number. Easy peasy!

The "Mirror" Trap! 🤯 Are You a Mandarin PRO-PLAYER?

Have you noticed a "glitch" in this language? Sometimes, if you flip a two-character word backwards like a mirror reflection, it changes from an action to an object, or completely changes the meaning! We call this the "Mirror Trap." 🪞

Let’s see if you are an advanced player who can dodge these word traps:

🪥 刷牙 (shuā yá) = Brush teeth (Action)
🪥 牙刷 (yá shuā) = Toothbrush (Object)

臺美華語教育交流邁向新里程！應駐美代表處教育組邀請，美國外語教學協會（ACTFL）代表團於4/18-4/24訪臺。由ACTFL主席 Krishauna Hines-Gaither 領軍，與FICHET共同強化雙邊合作，拓展臺灣華語教育國際市場！

📍亮點精華速覽：

#高層對話：教育部次長劉國偉親自接待，雙方聚焦提升在美推廣華語量能，並拜會華測會與國教院，交流華語文能力測驗Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language（TOCFL）與華語能力基準。

#教學觀摩：深入國立臺灣師範大學、實踐大學、中原大學，及樟樹實創高中、桃園文昌國中、臺北雙園國小等校，展現臺灣從高教到基礎教育的雙語教學實力。

#文化巡禮：走訪故宮、臺北孔廟、傳藝中心及蘭陽博物館，透過蘭陽風情與歷史瑰寶，深化語言與文化的連結。

🇹🇼Deepening Taiwan-U.S. Mandarin Education! ACTFL Delegation Concludes Successful Visit to Taiwan🇺🇸

A new milestone has been reached in Taiwan-U.S. Mandarin education exchange! At the invitation of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO), a delegation from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) visited Taiwan from April 18 to April 24. Led by ACTFL President Krishauna Hines-Gaither, the group collaborated with the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET) to strengthen bilateral ties and expand the international market for Taiwan’s Mandarin education.

📍Highlights of the Visit:

＊High-Level Dialogue:
The delegation was received by Deputy Minister of Education Liu Kuo-wei. Discussions focused on boosting the capacity for Mandarin promotion in the U.S. The group also met with the Steering Committee for the Test Of Proficiency-Huayu (SC-TOP) and the National Academy for Educational Research (NAER) to exchange insights on the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) and Mandarin proficiency standards.

＊Instructional Observations:
The delegation conducted in-depth visits to National Taiwan Normal University, Shih Chien University, and Chung Yuan Christian University. They also visited Chang Shu Creative Teaching Experimental High School, Taoyuan Wenchang Junior High School, and Taipei Shuangyuan Elementary School, showcasing Taiwan’s bilingual education prowess from higher education down to K-12.

＊Cultural Exploration:
To deepen the connection between language and culture, the group toured the National Palace Museum, Taipei Confucius Temple, the National Center for Traditional Arts, and the Lanyang Museum, experiencing the unique heritage and beauty of Yilan.

🤝Looking Forward:
This exchange was a resounding success, fostering deep trust in Taiwan-U.S. Mandarin and bilingual education. Moving forward, both sides will continue to promote textbook publication and talent cultivation, co-authoring a new chapter in global Mandarin education!
