TCS Maple TechQuest Summer Science Camp | A Summer of Science, Coding, and Discovery

Maple TechQuest returned to TCS this summer—and this group definitely brought plenty of energy with them!
󠀠
Mornings were all about hands-on science experiments, while afternoons shifted into the world of coding with Micro:bit. Guided by an experienced teaching team, students explored, experimented, and brought their ideas to life.
󠀠
And whenever something truly caught their interest, you could see it immediately—the excitement in their eyes said it all.
󠀠
One of the week’s liveliest moments came after students built their own rubber-band-powered ratchet guns. The classroom quickly turned into a friendly sharpshooting competition!
󠀠
Some stepped up looking nervous, others could hardly wait for their turn, and a few looked surprisingly professional as they took aim. Even those who didn’t advance happily kept testing their creations on the sidelines.

Five days of science, coding, new friendships, and plenty of laughter.

Thank you to this wonderfully energetic group for making Maple TechQuest even livelier than it was this winter!

今年寒假曾經和大家見面的 Maple TechQuest，這個暑假再次回到 TCS！
󠀠
五天的營隊裡，每天上午是科學實驗，下午則進入 Coding 的世界。由專業團隊帶領，孩子們一邊操作實驗、觀察不同的科學現象，一邊透過 Micro:bit 認識程式邏輯，把腦中的想法一步步變成實際成果。

而比起寒假，這次暑假的教室明顯熱鬧了不少。
󠀠
有人一看到實驗材料，等不及老師講解就迫不及待動起手來；有人到了 Coding 時間特別專注。碰上自己感興趣的課程，孩子們兩眼發亮的樣子，真的很可愛。

最熱鬧的場面之一，出現在孩子們完成自己的「棘輪手槍」之後。
󠀠
這是一個利用橡皮筋發射的實作作品，老師除了帶大家完成製作，還把現場變成了神射手比賽場，讓孩子們分組對決。

上場的選手反應各不相同：有人一臉緊張，有人躍躍欲試，也有好幾位選手一拿起自己的作品，架勢看起來相當專業。

場上的比賽一輪接著一輪，場下也完全沒有冷場——沒有晉級的孩子乾脆在角落自己開啟另一個小戰場，拿著作品繼續試射，玩得不亦樂乎。

這五天裡，有實驗、有 Coding，也有慢慢熟起來的友情與笑聲。

2026 EMI CERT PT 5-Day Professional Development Workshop | When Teachers Become Learners Again

Last week, TCS welcomed the 2026 EMI CERT PT 5-Day Professional Development Workshop, bringing together educators from a variety of backgrounds for five days of professional learning and collaboration.
󠀠
EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) is about much more than teaching in English. It focuses on creating learning experiences that help students build understanding, think critically, and actively engage in the learning process.
󠀠
Throughout the week, the classroom shifted naturally between quiet moments of reflection and lively discussions. At times, participants learned through engaging activities filled with laughter and energy; at others, they worked in pairs, exchanging ideas, unpacking the thinking behind each activity, and reflecting on how these strategies could be adapted for their own classrooms.

Here, every educator was both a learner and a teacher. Through shared experiences, meaningful conversations, and thoughtful reflection, participants not only gained new teaching strategies but also rediscovered what learning feels like from a student's perspective—reminding us that teaching and learning grow together.

來自不同背景的教師齊聚 TCS，透過示範課程、分組討論、實作活動與 Micro-Teaching，重新回到學生的位置，親身體驗不同教學策略如何引導思考、促進理解與學習。

EMI（English as a Medium of Instruction）不只是以全英語授課，更重視如何在全英語的學習環境中，引導學生理解知識、主動思考，並積極參與學習。

這五天裡，教室裡時而靜得只剩下翻閱教材與思考的節奏，時而充滿熱烈的討論聲；有時透過趣味互動，在歡笑中體驗學習；有時兩兩交流，從不同觀點激盪想法，一起拆解教學活動背後的設計理念，思考如何將新的教學策略帶回自己的課堂。

在這裡，每一位教師既是學習者，也是教育者。透過一次次體驗、交流與反思，不只是累積新的教學策略，更重新感受站在學生角度學習的歷程，讓教學與學習在彼此互動中持續成長。

TCS Rewind | Episode 03 — Composition 11 × Poetry in a Box

How can a poem be experienced beyond the words on the page?

At the end of last semester, our Grade 11 students took part in the Poetry in a Box project in Mr. White's Composition 11 class. Each student selected a poem that resonated with them and transformed its ideas into a visual interpretation using a box, carefully chosen objects, colours, and composition.

On presentation day, students stood beside their work to share their creative process while welcoming questions, feedback, and conversations with teachers and classmates who visited their displays.
󠀠󠀠
Every box reflected a unique way of reading, interpreting, and imagining a poem—showcasing not only literary understanding, but also each student's individual voice and creativity.

一首詩，除了文字本身，還能用什麼方式被看見？

上學期末，G11 學生們在 Mr. White 帶領的 Composition 11 課程中，透過 Poetry in a Box 專題，選擇一首觸動自己的詩，運用盒子、物件、色彩與擺設，將抽象的文字轉化為看得見、也能與他人分享的作品。

發表當天，每位同學站在自己的作品前，分享創作理念，也接受到訪展位的老師與同學提問、交流想法，並獲得回饋。每一個盒子，都承載著學生對詩作不同的閱讀、理解與想像，也展現了每位學生獨一無二的詮釋方式。

For the first time, the event will be held at Meiti Riverside Park and will feature our first-ever Sunset Run. Participants can choose from 3K, 5K, or 10K routes, and everyone is welcome—families, friends, runners, and anyone who wants to support a meaningful cause.

TCS Rewind | Episode 02 — G8 × Sports Day

If there's one thing everyone knows about G8...

it's that they never seem to run out of energy.
󠀠
Always lively, always laughing, they finally found the perfect place to channel all that energy on Sports Day.
󠀠
From the Fun Games to Tug of War, they cheered each other on, gave it everything they had, and somehow turned all that excitement into two Middle School team championships.

Looking back at these photos, it's hard to believe summer is already nearly halfway through.

When school starts again, this group of G8 students will officially become G9.

The campus has been a little quieter lately...

and, somehow, we're already starting to miss them. ❤️

如果要說 G8 有什麼特色……

大概就是永遠有用不完的精力吧。

平常總是鬧騰、笑聲不斷的他們，到了 Sports Day，彷彿終於找到了最適合發揮的舞台。

一路笑、一路跑、一路互相加油，也就在那一片歡笑與吶喊聲中，把國中部趣味競賽和拔河兩項團體冠軍帶了回來。

The 2026 EMI CERT PT 5-Day Professional Development Workshop is an intensive professional development programme leading to the internationally recognised Trinity College London Certificate for Practising Teachers (CertPT). The workshop is designed for lecturers and teachers working in English Medium Instruction (EMI) environments.

TCS Rewind｜Episode 01－Museum: Canadian Histories
At the end of last semester, our G10 students transformed their classroom into a small history museum under the guidance of Mr. White and Mr. Renda.

Exploring different events, people, and issues in Canadian history, students became curators, drawing on historical texts, primary sources, exhibit design, and interactive displays to share their understanding.
󠀠
They also became visitors. Carrying their Curator's Journals from booth to booth, they listened, observed, reflected, and discovered how the same history can be understood through different perspectives.

上個學期末，G10 學生在 Mr. White 與 Mr. Renda 的帶領下，將教室變成一座小型歷史博物館。
󠀠
學生們以加拿大歷史中的不同事件、人物與議題為主題，蒐集文本、史料與文獻，化身為策展人，透過展覽設計、互動體驗與實物展示，分享自己對歷史的理解。

每位學生也同時是參觀者。他們帶著 Curator's Journal 穿梭於各個 booth，聆聽介紹、觀察細節、記錄想法，也從不同的觀點中，看見同一段歷史所呈現出的不同樣貌。

TCS Outdoor Adventure Education Program | G10 & G11 OAEP
Last winter, our G10 and G11 students laced up their hiking boots and took on the trails of Youluo Mountain and Xiakaluo Historic Trail, learning not only to challenge themselves but also to support one another with every step.

This summer, they returned for a new adventure—one that led them from the mo󠀠untain into the river.
󠀠󠀠
From hiking to high ropes and river tracing, the experiences may have looked completely different, but they all reflected the four core pillars of TCS's Outdoor Adventure Education Program (OAEP): team culture, outdoor skills, leadership, and the courage to explore beyond the familiar.
󠀠
This year also marked Frances' first OAEP experience as an accompanying teacher. Rather than observing from the sidelines, she chose to take part in every challenge alongside the students, hoping to better understand the journey through their eyes.
󠀠
What impressed her most wasn't how difficult the activities were, but the moments that revealed a different side of the students.
󠀠
Along the river, students naturally slowed down to offer a helping hand. During the cliff-jump challenge, those who were initially hesitant found the courage to leap after seeing their teachers go first.

As Frances shared,

"Many students started by believing they couldn't do it. But every time they said, 'I'll give it another try,' they discovered that they actually could."
󠀠
Perhaps that's what makes OAEP so meaningful.
󠀠
Every outdoor experience is more than just another activity. It is another step toward building trust, developing resilience, and discovering that we are often far more capable than we believe.󠀠

上個冬天，TCS G10 與 G11 的學生背起背包，踏上油羅山與霞喀爾古道，在一步一步的攀登中，學習與自己對話，也學習與夥伴同行。

這個夏天，他們再次迎來大山大海的挑戰。
󠀠
從登山健行到高空繩索、溯溪探索，從山林走進溪谷，看似截然不同的旅程，卻始終圍繞著 TCS OAEP 最重視的核心──團隊合作、戶外技能、領導力，以及勇於探索未知的精神。

今年第一次參與 OAEP 的隨隊老師 Frances，選擇和學生一起完成所有挑戰。她笑著說，自己這次不是站在一旁觀察，而是想用「體驗者」的角度，真正理解學生的感受。

而最讓她印象深刻的，不是孩子完成了多困難的挑戰，而是那些平常在校園裡不容易看見的模樣。

溯溪途中，學生會主動停下腳步，伸手拉老師一把；面對跳水挑戰時，原本遲遲不敢跨出第一步的同學，看見老師率先完成挑戰後，也鼓起勇氣完成了自己的挑戰。

Frances 分享：「很多孩子一開始都覺得自己做不到，但就在一次次『再試試看』的過程裡，他們真的做到了。」

或許，這就是 OAEP 最珍貴的地方。

每一次走進戶外，都不是為了征服一座山、完成一次溯溪，而是在不同的挑戰中，一步一步累積信任、建立能力，也慢慢發現──原來自己，比想像中更勇敢，也比想像中更有力量。

TCS 2026 Graduation Ceremony | Highlights
Last Friday, TCS proudly held its Graduation Ceremony in the International Conference Hall for the very first time. As our graduating class continues to grow, we have officially outgrown our Cafeteria—a meaningful milestone that reflects how much TCS has grown over the past three years.

This year's ceremony was made even more special with the return of our former Principal, Mr. Sundal, who joined our current Principal, Mr. Waurynchuk, in celebrating and encouraging the Class of 2026. At TCS, we have always believed that we are a family. Whether they guided our students in the past or continue to walk alongside them today, our educators share the same commitment to supporting every student's journey.

上週五，TCS 畢業典禮首次移師至國際會議廳舉辦。從一開始的溫馨小場地，到今年因畢業生人數增加而需要更大的會場，這不只是空間的轉換，也見證了 TCS 在這三年裡一步步的成長。

這次典禮中，我們也特別邀請前校長 Mr. Sundal 回到 TCS，與現任校長 Mr. Waurynchuk 一同為畢業生送上祝福。對 TCS 來說，學校一直像一個 family；無論是曾經陪伴孩子們走過一段路的老師，或是現在仍在身邊守護他們的師長，都用溫暖的愛目送孩子們啟程。
