Afternoon special -

🧚 "Would you like an adventure now, or would you like to have your tea first?"— J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

Thank You for Joining Our June 17th IBSC Admissions Info Session!

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome around 60 passionate parents and students (and also NEHS high school students who were attracted by the college application orientation part🤣) to our campus this Wednesday! It was a wonderful afternoon filled with great conversations, insightful questions, and a shared vision for the future of education. The adventure has officially begun!

To ensure everyone truly understands the IBSC experience, our session was thoughtfully designed around three core segments: Curriculum Introduction, College Pathways & Guidance, and a Quick Campus Tour.

For those who couldn't make it—or if you just want a quick recap—here is what makes IBSC so special:

💡 A Curriculum Designed for Global Mobility

We proudly adopt the California State Standards, seamlessly blending them with the 21st-century "4Cs" (Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration, Creativity) to cultivate learners who are Inquisitive, Balanced, Spirited, and Compassionate (IBSC).

From Elementary to Middle and High School, our students go through a carefully guided journey of Exploration, Anchoring, and Deepening. Supported by rigorous AP courses, a rich holistic elective system, the unparalleled resources of the Science Park, and diverse international exchange programs, we prepare students to confidently journey to the world.

🏫 Who We Are: A True International School Experience

We want to clarify a common misconception: IBSC is not an IB Program, nor is it a traditional "Bilingual School."

We are a fully-fledged International Department running parallel to the NEHS Elementary, Middle, and High School departments. As the firm educational backbone of the Science Park, we offer:
🔸 100% English Instruction (for all subjects except Mandarin. Mandarin class is divided into CSL and Regular Chinese to ensure a more instructive learning environment.)

🔸 An outstanding 17:15 local-to-foreign teacher ratio (with foreign teachers serving as homeroom teachers for Grades 1-12!)

🔸 A vibrantly diverse community representing 27 different nationalities.

🎓 Guidance & College Pathways: Finding Your Inner Unicorn

Our dedicated Guidance Counseling team utilizes the renowned US ASCA (American School Counselor Association) national model standards. Whether a student is aiming for overseas top-tier universities or domestic institutions via the Special Selection (特殊選材) pathway, we provide personalized, step-by-step consulting.

While we are incredibly proud of our stellar college acceptance lists, our true mission goes beyond college prep. We are here to help every student pursue their ultimate life goals and become their most authentic selves. At IBSC, every child is our unique, magical unicorn! 🦄

📅 Application Reminder! The comment column will have the admission guide link as well!

🌟🌟Dragon Boat Festival Unicorn Special -
IBSC Has Talent!
🌟🌟Article written by IBSC Art teacher Mr. Emiliano Monchilov

Every day, I am amazed by the incredible talent, creativity, and passion that our students bring to IBSC. One of the reasons I became an art teacher was to help students discover and share their unique voices, and living that dream at IBSC has exceeded all of my expectations thanks to our remarkable students and supportive faculty.

When Ms. Weng (IBSC Music teacher Ms.Sunny Weng) approached me with the idea of hosting a talent show, I was immediately excited and grateful for the opportunity to be involved.

It was especially meaningful to combine student performances with a display of the beautiful artwork our students have created throughout the year, celebrating the many ways creativity can be expressed.

Although this was a small and informal lunchtime event, it served as a valuable first step toward creating even larger and more engaging showcases in the future. Events like this help us learn how to better highlight our music and arts programs while celebrating the diverse talents of our students.

We hope to grow this into a regular event that welcomes parents and the entire IBSC community, and I am excited about the possibilities ahead.

A special thank you to Ms. Weng for her vision, enthusiasm, and support in making this event possible. And most importantly, thank you to our students—for sharing your talents, contributing your artwork, and helping set up and support the event. You are what makes IBSC such a vibrant and inspiring place to learn and grow.

【Global Citizens in Action: Highlights from IBSC’s German Exchange Journey 🇩🇪🇹🇼】
At IBSC, cultivating "Global Competence" is more than just an educational goal—it is an experience we live and breathe! During our recent exchange trip to Germany, our students stepped out of the classroom, acting as young cultural ambassadors to share Taiwan's rich heritage with the world. Through a series of engaging workshops, students from both countries sparked beautiful connections. ✨

🧋 A Flavorful Cultural Bridge: Pearl Milk Tea Workshop
What represents Taiwan better than our beloved Pearl Milk Tea? Not only a cherished national memory, but boba tea is also a proudly served delicacy at Taiwan's state banquets, symbolizing our creativity and inclusive hospitality. We brought premium Uva black tea, pure cane sugar, and authentic tapioca pearls all the way from Taiwan! Led by our G8 student Melody Tsai, IBSC and German students mixed these ingredients with local milk. This hands-on workshop successfully unlocked a beautiful "flavorful connection," proving that food is a universal language!

🖌️ Mindfulness and Heritage: Calligraphy Workshop
Calligraphy is revered as a national treasure because, whether in delicate small scripts or flowing cursive, every brushstroke reveals a person’s character, vision, and cultural depth. A huge shoutout to our high school student Ai-En Ho, who not only prepared the traditional "Four Treasures of the Study" but also guided everyone through an engaging presentation and demonstration. Writing on spring couplets wasn't just about recreating traditional art; it allowed our international friends to experience the profound beauty of Traditional Chinese characters. This perfectly embodies IBSC's mission: staying rooted in our local culture while confidently embracing the world.

🤝 Partnerships for the Goals: A Heartfelt Thank You
Embodying the spirit of global partnership, we are incredibly grateful to our German sister school for their warm hospitality these past few days. Time flies, but the genuine cross-border friendships forged here will last a lifetime. We are deeply moved by this bond and are already looking forward to our reunion next year!

🏛️ Deepening Ties: Visit to the Taipei Representative Office in Germany
On June 9th, we had the absolute honor of visiting the Taipei Representative Office alongside students from our sister school, where we were warmly received by Minister Chu Li-ling. Putting their cross-cultural learning into words, our students confidently shared their experiences with "culture shock" and adapting to new environments. A special thanks to the office for inviting a German staff member to share his own inspiring experience studying in Taiwan. It’s wonderful to see our young diplomats actively fostering Taiwan-Germany friendships!

🎨 Painting Freedom: Berlin Wall Graffiti Workshop
The grand finale of our trip was a graffiti workshop at the Berlin Wall. Once a heavy symbol of the Cold War and historical division, the Wall has beautifully transformed into the world's largest open-air gallery—a testament to freedom, peace, and diversity. Under a clear blue sky, our students spray-painted their beliefs and designs onto the wall. Echoing the core values of our "Mapping Dignity" curriculum, this activity allowed students to reflect on human rights and global history. Their vibrant artwork full of hope is undoubtedly the most beautiful scenery on the Wall today.
Every journey fuels our growth. At IBSC, we bring the world to Taiwan, and we proudly bring Taiwan to the world! 🌍

🌍✨ Unicorn Meets NEMUN 2026: A Meaningful Journey of Diplomatic Thinking and Human-Centered Learning! ✨🌍

The 14th NEHS Model United Nations Conference (NEMUN 2026), held last weekend from June 6 to 7, has successfully come to a close. Our delegates returned with valuable experiences, meaningful growth, and a deeper understanding of what it means to engage with the world as responsible global citizens. More than just an international diplomacy experience, this conference served as the perfect culmination of our Mapping Dignity course on gender equality and human dignity.

Looking back at the pre-conference classroom preparation, students enrolled in Mapping Dignity took part in a high-level mini simulation. This year, the General Assembly Third Committee (GA3) addressed a highly challenging topic: “Addressing Discrimination and Violence against LGBTQ+ Individuals Globally.” During the practice session, four student delegates were assigned countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany—each with distinct national positions, legal frameworks, and policy considerations.

Learning how to incorporate human-centered concern while remaining faithful to a country’s real-world stance is a sophisticated form of political and diplomatic art. Delegates had to set aside personal assumptions, carefully interpret each government’s established policies and limitations, and respond within realistic diplomatic boundaries.

Meanwhile, their classmates took on the role of international NGO observers, skillfully raising Points of Information (POIs) during moderated discussion to challenge the delegates to consider how human dignity can still be protected within the serious frameworks of national interest and international diplomacy.

After two intense days of formal debate, lobbying, and drafting resolutions, our students experienced firsthand the transformative power of Model United Nations. Through this process, they strengthened:

🌟Global Competence and Empathy: Learning to step beyond their comfort zones and understand diverse cultural norms, political realities, and geopolitical constraints.
🌟Critical Thinking and In-Depth Research: Identifying gaps in national laws and policies while seeking feasible institutional solutions within complex international systems.
🌟Public Speaking and Negotiation Skills: Communicating positions clearly under strict time limits, responding calmly to unexpected challenges, and negotiating with delegates from different blocs and perspectives.

Just as many influential global figures in technology and public leadership—such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern—were once passionate Model UN delegates during their student years, every moment on the MUN stage becomes part of the foundation for future global leadership.

❤️ Special Thanks to Our Accompanying Teacher

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Eddard Huang for accompanying our students throughout the entire conference. During these two full days of a demanding and fast-paced schedule, Mr. Huang not only stayed by the students’ side to provide timely guidance and emotional support, but also personally assisted with transportation and ensured the safety and well-being of every delegate. Because of his selfless dedication and warm support, our students were able to step onto the stage with confidence and give their very best.

Echoing the core spirit of NEMUN 2026—“Be a voice, not an echo”—our students demonstrated not only mature diplomatic thinking, but also the awareness and responsibility of global citizens. We are incredibly proud of each student’s growth, courage, and transformation. 💼🇺🇳

2026.06.05 NEHS & IBSC Principal Chyn’s Opening Remarks at the signing ceremony with Evangelisches Gymnasium Doberlug-Kirchhain

Guten Tag! Honorable Principal Murr, teachers, and dear students:
The great German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once wrote: "What is to touch the heart must come from the heart."

From Taichung, Taiwan to Germany, it is a long journey of nearly 9,000 kilometers. However, this long distance has never stopped our hearts from connecting.
Looking back at our history, it is full of wonderful moments. In 2016, with the help of the Goethe-Institut(歌德學院), we first visited this beautiful school. In 2017 and 2019, we visited each other and made many beautiful memories. Even in 2022, when the pandemic stopped the world, we still connected and signed our agreement online.
What touches me the most is that, from 2016 until now, your school has worked with all three principals of our school. Our friendship has not changed with time. Instead, it grows stronger and deeper every year.

Time flies, and our school has grown a lot. We now have our International Department, IBSC. Last year, we finished our new building and opened our Elementary department. And in two years, our Kindergarten will also open.

This year is a very special milestone. For the first time, we brought students from our newly founded IBSC back to Germany. We have 20 wonderful students traveling to Europe this time. They are from our High School, Junior High, and the IBSC. This is the first time students from all three departments have come to Germany together.
The German Nobel Prize winner Hermann Hesse once wrote: "And in every new beginning, there is a magic."

This visit is a happy reunion, and also a magical new beginning. We deeply appreciate your friendship over the years. We also want to thank you for your careful and warm arrangements, giving our students so many wonderful experiences.
Friendship goes both ways. On behalf of NEHS, I sincerely invite you all: Please come to Taiwan next March! Give us the chance to return the favor, and let you experience the warmth and beauty of Taiwan once again.
We look forward to seeing you in Taiwan next March! Thank you all!
Vielen Dank!
