The Read Write Clinic The Read Write Clinic aims toward remediation of students with various literacy difficulties.

Literacy is traditionally understood as the ability to read, write, and use arithmetic. Now it has been expanded to include the ability to use language, numbers, images, computers, and other basic means to understand, communicate and gain useful knowledge. The Read Write Clinic is focused on reading and writing development and the attainment of a progression of skills that begins with the ability

to understand spoken words and decode written words, and culminates in the deep understanding of text. Reading development involves a range of complex language underpinnings including awareness of speech sounds (phonology), spelling patterns (orthography), word meaning (semantics), grammar (syntax) and patterns of word formation (morphology), all of which provide a necessary platform for reading fluency and comprehension. The goal of The Read Write Clinic is to meet the need of each individual in a relaxed and comfortable environment as reading is sometimes viewed as a difficult task. Once the relevant skills are acquired, the reader can attain full language literacy. This would include the abilities to apply to printed material critical analysis, inference and synthesis; to write with accuracy and coherence; and to use information and insights from text as the basis for informed decisions and creative thought. with these specific set of skills individuals are then able to visualize and understand language and so creating happier persons.

I sit and think about the child, what they would like and what would be most effective to get their attention. Then I create.
