Here's one of my first CAPE students.

She was with me for CSEC Physics and Add Math and she trusted me and her parents trusted me enough to join my CAPE class even while I was in the process of now starting to make my first PowerPoints.

She did the work and we worked together to pull it off.

I will forever be humbled and in awe of these parents and students who trusted me and didn't doubt what I was doing even though it was my first time teaching CAPE and I was quite literally making notes as we were going along.

This is part of the reason I will always give my all for them because they've trusted me with some of the most important things in their life and that isn't something I take lightly.

A parent of a child who's entering form 5 called me to ask if I have any space left to take in her child because he's struggling.
I completely understand and empathize but you all know I have small classes for a reason.

There are lots of lessons teachers out there so whichever classes you choose to join is up to you but don't make this parent's mistake.
Start early so your child is on top of things and gets that extra practice. You don't want to have to play catch up months before exam.

Now, not everyone needs lessons and your child may be able to do great without it but its definitely a conversation you need to have early on and also be honest with your child's performance in forms 1-3 and assess if you think they'll need a little help in form 4-5.

It takes a village and sometimes a lessons teacher needs to be part of that village.

I'm sitting in my living room relaxing because I didn't have any classes, then I got a message saying "Ms. Warrick, are you still having class today?".

I had my first class with a new student and I completely forgot. And for an A-Type personality like mine that was outrageous. After apologizing profusely and having a late start I met my most pestful student. 😆😆😆

Over a year later and our relationship has morphed into a big sister-little sister vibe and I'm here for it.

Looking forward to a few more years together as she continues with me through CAPE where she'll continue to bother me. 😂😂😂

This student registered with me a year ago to do Add Math because she was repeating Add Math and some other subjects that I don't teach.
Then 3 months before exams she realised there was a mixup with her registration and she was registered for Math and Physics. She was faced with a decision, just be marked absent or try to prepare for 2 exams that she did a yr ago.

She picked the harder option and we set out to work.
She joined my group sessions and added in one on one sessions and grinded.

Oh and did I mention she did all this while working.
I am soooo proud of her and how far she's come!

Another letter of recommendation for another student.

While dealing with insane health issues he came to class. Even when he couldn't make it to class he watched the class recordings.

This student is a sweet bread and when I say sweet bread I mean sweat bread.

She is respectful, considerate and hardworking but I feel like I also live vicariously through her IG stories. 😂😂😂

She did the work, was attentive in class, asked as many questions as she could in and outside of class and was involved in a ton of activities in school.

I honestly feel like my testimonials posts are letters of recommendations for my students rather than ads for me because I really have been blessed with some wonderful students.

This is another student who joined my classes a couple of months before exam. She is a really competent student but needed PPQ practice and needed to review a couple of topics.

She put in the work and got great results.
I am so proud of her!

p.s. again, before the distinction haters say anything, I know there is no such thing as a distinction with CXC exams. I also know that its possible for someone to get a better grade with an AAB profile than an AAA profile.

With that being said if someone says distinction I know that means they got A in all profiles. So its a shorter way of saying that.

A few months before exam a parent asked if she could give my number to a parent who needs some help.
After speaking to her daughter I realised she wasn't taught a couple of the topics on the syllabus in school and for those of us who've done Add Math we know that the topics are very abstract so we had to hit the ground running.

I definitely cannot take credit for this because she was attentive and pro-active and followed my advice to the letter, so her results are no surprise to me.

Even though these are all of the things that I do.
At the top of the list is really kindness.
Being kind to parents because they are doing the best they can for their kids and being kind to the kids because they are dealing with with a lot in school and all the coming of age changes.
So in whatever way I can help them I am happy to do it.
