We turned an old box into a prehistoric dinosaur world for preschoolers and toddlers, we made a door and just added play sand, foliage and dinosaurs galore!
You could even fold the box up flat and take it to the beach on a nice day to play in!

Some children don’t fight, run, or shut down…
They adapt.

They become extra helpful. Extra compliant. Extra “good”.

This is the fawn response — a protective pattern where a child tries to stay safe by pleasing others, avoiding conflict, and meeting everyone else’s needs first.

You might see a child who never says no, who watches adults closely, who copies others, or who hides how they really feel to keep the peace.

In school, this can look like coping. Even thriving.

But underneath, it can be exhausting.

Because holding everything in all day — masking worries, needs, and feelings — often doesn’t disappear…
👉 it builds.

And when that pressure finally releases at home, it can come out as fight behaviour — big emotions, anger, or explosive reactions that seem to come “out of nowhere”.

It didn’t come from nowhere.
It came from everything they held in.

This post shares the child’s voice — what fawn feels like on the inside — so we can better understand the children who look “fine”… but are working the hardest to stay that way.
