🇹🇹🪔 Indian Arrival Day 2026 at BESS ☪️🇹🇹

Barrackpore East Secondary School commemorated Indian Arrival Day in grand style as students and staff celebrated the rich heritage and contributions of the East Indian community to Trinidad and Tobago.

The highlight of the day was a reenactment of the arrival of the East Indians aboard the Fatel Razack, led by our talented Tassa Boys, bringing history to life for all in attendance. Students were also treated to a variety of traditional delicacies, including doubles, sawine, kurma, and refreshing cane juice.

The celebration featured a vibrant programme filled with cultural performances, entertainment, and exciting prizes, making it an enjoyable and educational experience for everyone.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our external sponsors, Celina Marketing Limited for their continued support over the years, and Mr. Delano Mohammed of Gasparillo for providing his cane juice services. We also thank the Indian Arrival Day Committee and all members of staff whose hard work and dedication contributed to the success of this memorable event.

Together, we celebrate our history, embrace our diversity, and honour the legacy of those who helped shape our nation.

Indian Arrival Day 2026 🇹🇹

Our Form 1 students recently had the privilege of conducting interviews with elders in commemoration of Indian Arrival Day. Through these meaningful conversations, students gained first-hand insights into the experiences, traditions, values, and contributions of the East Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago.

As we commemorate the arrival of the first East Indian indentured labourers to our shores in 1845, these interviews served as an important reminder of the importance of preserving our history and learning from those who have helped shape our nation's rich cultural heritage.

We commend our Form 1 students for their enthusiasm, curiosity, and respect shown throughout the interview process, and we extend our sincere thanks to the elders who generously shared their stories and experiences. Together, we continue to honour the past while educating future generations.
