THE ARK AND THE NAME: The Wara’Ro Elder’s Testament (An Imaginative Tale)
The fire bent low, its glow deepening into a quiet red. Shadows stretched long across the clearing, as though even they leaned in to listen attentively....then the Wara’Ro elder rose.
He did not rush, nor was his actions hasty. He quietly stepped forward with the calm certainty of one who carries something much older than Speech itself, an unspoken Authority. His eyes passed over Abu Bukhari, over the Lokono and Shibaio elders, over the Surinen Chief, all who had gathered....and finally rested upon the seated stranger.
“You have heard of the Cycles,” he said.
“But you have not yet heard of the Crossing that gave us our Name.”
He placed his hand over his chest in preparation of his testimony that was to come....
THE TENTH SIGN - Not a King, but a Servant.
“The Nine Cycles before,” he began, “were marked by Nine Prophetic Kings....all were descendants of the First Man. Each rose to Authority and Supremacy with Knowledge. Each swiftly fell when that Knowledge was abandoned for vanity and vain desires.”
He lifted one finger....
“But the Tenth was not a King!"
He paused,
“It was My Very Own Ancestor. No crown. No throne. No army!"
“Only a man,” the Elder said, “whose Heart was Anchored in the Worship of the One Creator God.”
The air itself seemed to still in silence and anticipation.
“He had received an Inspiration as from His Lord,” the Elder continued, voice steady but deepening, “one he could not deny, this....even as it lead him on a Path that defied all logic and reason.”
He looked toward the sky in awe and recollection....
“To build himself an Ark!”
A WORLD CORRUPTED
The elder’s tone darkened and deepened with intensity and suspense.
“At that time, the People....especially the Rulers, had turned completely away from the Divine Way.”
He spoke not in haste, but in weight, measured for impact....
“They carved and crafted idols, and they further bowed to them in worship.
They practiced Magic and Dark Arts, calling upon lesser powerful forces they did not completely understand.
They spilled, even consumed Human and Animal Blood in Ritualistic Sacrifice, believing it gave them supernatural or spiritual power.
They indulged in extreme sexual perversions, chasing after their lusts and desires....thereby corrupting the Natural Order of Union.”
The fire crackled sharply and startled most who were drawn into the details of the record.
“....and worse,” he said, lowering his voice, “they joined with the malignant ones....vicious entities not of this Earth. From these unsanctified unions came offspring not meant for this World. Huge Giants, some gentle others, most fierce. Horrible Beasts, half human...others totally deformed. Yet others with terrible Forms that walked among Men in disguise.”
A murmur passed through the gathering. Everyone uttered to the other in confirmation or inquiry....this all began to sound so familiar, they all wondered.
“My ancestor had warned them,” the Elder said firmly with a scolding tone.
“He called them back, to repentance, to forgiveness, to the One, to the Truth, to restraint in lieu of lavish and excess....but they laughed."
His head hung sorrowful as he continued....
“They jockingly mocked him and insulted him as he built.
‘Where is this, your promised calamity and flood?’ they said openly in scorn....
‘Where is your Creator God that has Guided you!?’”
THE PRAYER THAT ECHOES ACROSS TIME
The elder closed his eyes briefly, feeling himself overwhelmed by emotions,
“When the rejection, by the People, of the Warning became complete, he....my Ancestor, turned to the Creator in Total Despair and Hope, not in anger, or fear....but in submission and sorrow.”
His voice softened as he continued to regale his audience....
“He prayed….for his beloved Son.”
Abu Bukhari felt the absolute weight of it immediately. The story and its Truth had been revealed to him in a flurry of emotions.
“For he had been shown...his son would not be among the believers that would be saved.”
A silence settled, heavy and intimate....it pierced the Souls of all who present and gathered to hear this tale.
“He had asked that he (his son) be saved from the torment and trial,” the Elder said.
“That mercy be extended to him in Grace.”
Then, slowly, he shook his head....as though in negation.
“But the answer came, clear and unyielding.”
Not all who are of your blood are of your Truth.
The Bond of Faith is Greater than the Bond of Lineage, that day he would not be saved and would be among those left behind.
Abu Bukhari’s companions shifted uneasily in silent recognition. The Echo was unmistakable.
WHEN THE WORLD WAS TAKEN BACK
“....and then,” the Elder Wara’Ro Chief said, his voice rising slightly, “The Decree Came!"
The sky darkened. The rain fell, torrential....not as drops, but as a release. The الأرض (Earth) opened, and Water surged up from beneath!
“The flood was not local,” he said.
“It was Total!”
The Ancient Forest, where they sat itself, seemed to recoil in agony at the Memory.
“The Ark Floated and Faithfully carried those who Believed....few, but Specially Chosen. Not by name, or stature, but by Devotion.”
The rest….He did not speak it.
“They were Erased," could clearly be understood.
THE THREE WHO CARRIED THE WORLD FORWARD
“When the Waters had finally withdrew,” the Elder continued, “the Ark came to rest upon a renewed Earth! A Clean Earth! An Earth without corruption.”
He raised three fingers in gesture....
“From those who stepped forth as survivors, were Three Brothers.”
His voice lightened and carried reverence now.
“They were given the charge to Repopulate the Entire Earth! To carry forward the Seed of all Future Generations.”
He lowered his hand slowly.
“From them came many, countless....Nations. From them came many, innumerable Tribes. From them came all of us!"
He looked directly at Abu Bukhari.
“....and from them….came us, the Wara’Ro."
THE MEANING OF WARA’RO
The Wara’Ro Elder stepped closer to the fire....
“Our Name,” he said, “is not merely of Boats, nor of Rivers.”
He spoke it slowly and intentionally.
“Wa - Ra' Ro.”
“It is a Distinguished Recognition,” he said,
“of the Three who were Carried.”
Wa - Ra, being that which comes from before, from behind, from the past,
Ro being those who See, those who Bear Witness.
“We are the Ones who Remember and are Reminders of the Orginal Three,” he said.
“The Descendants of those who were Carried through the Great Flood of the Earth in the Wooden Ark.”
His voice deepened with severity,
“We are the witnesses of, and to, it's Continuity!”
THE FOUR GREAT ENDINGS
The Elder turned his gaze outward, beyond the fire, beyond the clearing, as though staring into another dimension,
“....but even before that,” he said, “the Earth was not free from corruption.”
He began to Recite....slow, rhythmic, ancient!
“For the Transgressions of the People, Four times the Earth was wiped clean, once by Fire, once by devastating Wind, the Earth opened up to swallow some and ours....by Water.
Not the kingdoms alone…
Not nations of people alone…but the Entire Earth itself….wiped clean.”
Each word landed like a solid granite stone.
“For the Transgressions of the People....” being the most consequential.
Abu Bukhari’s breath caught the cadence, the structure the warning, the Prayer....it was all way too familiar to continue to fight or deny. His companions all gasped...some quietly, some openly, others turning to one another in stunned recognition and disbelief.
The Wara’Ro elder fell silent for a silent moment, the fire dimmed....and in that stillness, beneath the canopy of Guiana, it became undeniable....This was not myth! This was not coincidence! This was a Shared Memory, carried across Generations of Peoples, across Eons of Time, across innumerable cycles....
Preserved in Names,
Preserved in Blood,
Preserved in those who still Remembered!
And now....spoken aloud once more, as a Living Testament!
