MEET THE CONSORTIUM | Institute of Heritage Restoration (UPV)

Francisco Juan Vidal, Coordinator of the DIEM project at the Universitat Politècnica de València, presents the Institute of Heritage Restoration and its role within the consortium.
Through its interdisciplinary expertise in conservation, restoration, heritage documentation, materials analysis and digital technologies, the Institute contributes to the development of shared methodologies and high-level training content for Cultural Heritage professionals.
Within DIEM, the IRP supports knowledge exchange and transnational cooperation, helping connect research, education and professional practice to develop innovative approaches to heritage conservation across the Mediterranean.

MEET THE CONSORTIUM | Institute of Heritage Restoration (UPV)

The Institute of Heritage Restoration of the Universitat Politècnica de València is part of the DIEM project under the coordination of Francisco Juan Vidal!

As a leading research and training center dedicated to the conservation, restoration and management of Cultural Heritage, the IRP combines expertise in architectural conservation, materials science, diagnostic techniques and digital technologies through a strongly interdisciplinary approach.

Within DIEM, the Institute contributes its scientific and methodological expertise to the development of shared approaches for heritage documentation, analysis and conservation. It also supports the design of high-level training content, drawing on its extensive experience in international research projects, advanced education and applied work in heritage contexts.

Dr Mohammed El Khalili, Chairman of the Board of Tarmeem Center for Heritage Preservation in Jordan, presents the organisation’s mission and its role within the DIEM project.
Tarmeem works to protect, conserve and enhance Cultural Heritage through research, restoration, capacity building and community engagement. Within DIEM, the Center contributes to advancing heritage education and strengthening the connection between academic institutions, professional practice and local needs.
Through knowledge exchange, strong partnerships and innovative approaches to training, Tarmeem supports DIEM’s ambition to create a lasting impact on Cultural Heritage education across the Mediterranean region.

Under the guidance of Nizar Ben Slimene (Conservator of the Oudhna Archaeological Site), and with the participation of Amina Ferjani (Heritage Conservator and Advisor at the Institut National du Patrimoine), Marika Griffo (Sapienza Università di Roma) and Najla Abbes (Animed) visited the archaeological site.
The visit was a valuable opportunity to explore the site, exchange ideas and discuss its role in the upcoming DIEM activities.
By connecting project partners with the professionals and territories involved, DIEM ensures that its tools and activities respond to local needs and strengthen the role of Cultural Heritage as a driver for inclusion and sustainable development across the Mediterranean.

MEET THE CONSORTIUM | Tarmeem Center

Tarmeem Center for the Training on the Preservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage is part of the DIEM project partnership! With strong expertise in training, capacity building and applied conservation practices, Tarmeem promotes traditional building techniques, sustainable heritage management and community-based approaches to the preservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage. Within DIEM, Tarmeem contributes to the development and implementation of training activities, contextualized pilot actions and capacity-building initiatives in Jordan.
By combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, the Center helps ensure that project outputs respond effectively to local needs, practices and communities.

But heritage is not just something to preserve. It is something to activate.

Fondazione MeNO ETS contributes to the DIEM project under the project coordination of Roberto Albergoni.
As a non-profit foundation dedicated to research, innovation and social impact, MeNO works across the fields of culture, education and sustainable development, with strong expertise in community engagement, participatory methodologies and capacity building.
Within DIEM, Fondazione MeNO supports the connection between academic outputs and local and regional actors, contributing to co-creation processes, stakeholder engagement and the development of community-oriented activities.

Together, we are strengthening inclusive approaches to Cultural Heritage education, community participation and skills development across the Mediterranean!

MEET THE CONSORTIUM | Sapienza University of Rome

Prof. Carlo Bianchini, Principal Investigator of the DIEM project, presents the role of the Department of History, Representation and Restoration of Architecture as Lead Partner of the consortium.
Over the next three years, DIEM will work across the Mediterranean area to develop new methodologies and training content in the field of Cultural Heritage, with a special focus on accessibility, inclusion and outreach to disadvantaged trainees.

Sapienza University of Rome leads the DIEM project through the Department of History, Representation and Restoration of Architecture, under the project management of Prof. Carlo Bianchini!
With strong expertise in historical research, architectural survey, restoration and Cultural Heritage preservation, Sapienza provides DIEM with scientific leadership, strategic coordination and methodological guidance. As Lead Partner, Sapienza supports the project’s transnational cooperation, contributing to the development of training, knowledge exchange and dissemination activities across the Mediterranean.
Together, we are building new pathways for Cultural Heritage education, skills development and inclusive cooperation.
